I was just wondering since i believe that sometimes things do happen just because you get lucky.

Or perhaps, because God blesses us.

Luck is a simple roll of the dice that favors your personal desire.
A blessing from God is more directed and personal, from the source.


Does God control everything directly?

Do some things come under the definition of 'random chance'?

I don't know the answer to either question.

Perhaps both are true, in that paradoxical way that God works.

Luck is even mentioned in the bible.
Ecclesiastes 9:11

Well, I don't think anyone's going to disagree with that interpretation of the word 'luck'. That's simply anything unplanned that happens.

God is in control and all is under his plan therefore 'luck' is governed by him. Thus, there is no luck only Gods authority.

I used to think I got lucky once in a while - now I feel blessed once in a while... :)

Amen! Great post, Josh! I believe that reference to "good luck/bad luck/getting lucky" is one of the top 10 things Christians should NEVER say - for just that reason - it is a denial of the sovereignty of God!

No I don't. I believe some people saved or not find favor where they walk. I believe it is a way God is speaking to people. Whether or not the person recognizes it is a different story.:hmm:
