SIGNS OF LIFE

Six months, is such a short time.
Mindful that days are speeding by.
She checks her mirror,
for signs of life.

It pains her to see,
what's left of, what used to be.
Has become a distant memory.

She looks beyond this sickness,
that she's been given.
To a time there'll be, for living.

Jesus will dry the tears she hid.
Never will she check,
her mirror again.

For her, there'll be peace.
And life, will never end.



I wrote this poem, 7-31-2007. 3 months before my mom passed away.
For the last 6 months of her life, she kept a mirror on her bedside table. I would sometimes catch her viewing herself. As she was in the last stage of C.O.P.D., and struggled for every breath.
She'd check the mirror, to see if her mouth was bluish-purple, due to low oxygen levels, and other changes.
After she passed, I saw the mirror on her bedside table. I cried and cried, but, I also thanked God, she was in Heaven. And struggling no more.
And life will never end.

I'm so thankful our time here is short, and that we will soon be with Jesus.
