There is nothing better than a ripe avocado, lighted salted, and drizzled with lime juice. It is delicious, and proof that there is a God and that He wants to make us happy! :D

I am not really sure why I felt the need to start an entire thread about this. Perhaps I feel the need to bond with other avocado afficionados.

If you don't like avocados, please move on.

That's it? ONE person joined my club?

No mass celebration regarding the wonderful goodness of avocados? No recipe swap? No frantically running out to buy up the store's supply of avocados (with a side of salt and lime juice)?

:hmm:

Slice it in half, scoop out the stone, add a bit of lime juice, cracked black pepper, and freshly minced mint leaves. Wonderful.

My Dad makes an avocado soup, and my son will eat it till it's coming out his ears. Avocado is one of the nicest foods God ever created.

And it's good for the brain too. ;)

Yes, it is! :D

And thank you for joining my club!

By the way, if you would care to share the recipe for avocado soup, I am sure it would be appreciated by the Avocado-Loving Throng here at Bibleforums! (I am sure there is a Throng...they must be over fighting in the End Times Forum!)

Okay... here is the "cheat" version. (My Dad uses all fresh ingredients, but I'm lazy.)

A cup full of frozen spinach (or kale, or some other green veggie. I've been known to use nettles, but I don't think you get nettles in the US, even growing along roads.)

A cup of stock... for me obviously he uses veggie stock. And Dad being Dad he's been preparing it painstakingly for a week. I use a stock cube.)

Chopped onion and garlic, very slowly fried in olive oil, with mixed herbs.

A splash of white wine, though I always forget.

One big ripe avocado, whizzed up with a cup of sour cream. (For me, obviously, he uses the tofutti vegan version.)

Start off by frying the onions, garlic, adding the stock, simmering, adding herbs, then, let it cool. Then blend it till it's completely smooth in the food blender. At this point it's a gorgeous green colour that is practically indescribable.

Now, very gently and slowly heat it, sprinkle a little bit of paprika over it when you serve, and perhaps a bit of shredded mint, or coriander, whichever you prefer.

My Dad is the world's best cook. :D

Well, obviously you are terrified of big green things. I mean... look at your avatar. Obviously you have a deep seated phobia that green entities are going to take over the world... Is Cthulu green by the way?

Oh avocados....they are SO good! A couple of years ago, my sister brought me an avocado, because she knew I liked them so much. I happened to have my guitar in hand when she did. I wrote a song about them. It's not very impressive, but my sister still sings it to this day. And there is a very specific way to talk to avocados, which would be near impossible to describe. People have mocked me endlessly about my love of avocados. I just smile and take another bite of the green goodness. :D

Hey W.Grace I also like avocatos, lighed salted, and yup they reveal a loving and caring Father who cares of us all, and who:

"maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust." Mat. 5.45.

The rather large seed...is it used for anything besides growing more avacados?

You can lob it at giants.

Avocados were the third solid food my son was introduced to. First, it was strained rice, then it was mashed banana... then it was avocado. Avocado was definitely his favourite. I remember the look of surprise followed by sheer bliss when the first mouthful went in. :)

Believe it or not, I have a friend who makes a very nice smoothy with avocado. She's a raw food vegan, so she experiments a lot... her "smoothy" is an avocado blended utterly smooth with pineapple juice, a drop of maple syrup, and freshly ground raw coco beans.

I can't afford to by the raw coco, but believe it or not, it really works.

Yea, verily, and David placed his hand in his bag, and withdrew the seed of the avocado, and he did thence place the seed of destruction into the pouchment of his sling, and hurled it with might and great vigor towardest Goliath the foul one.

And the giant was stuck in the temple by the pit of despair, and didst begin to shout violent imprecations against David, causing the rest of the Philistines to roll bodily about in fits of laughter, as avocado juice flowed downward frometh Goliath's head, stinging his eyes.

Straightway, David decided to goeth with plan B, backing slowly towardst a stream.
