I read a story in the Bible during the week in 2 Sam 13 about
King Davids daugher, Tamar. Perhaps you already know this story.
At first when I read this, I could relate to the story and felt rather sad, that something like this could happen to a Kings daughter. Her brother Amnon had rape her and then did not want to have her afterwards, and even told his servants to lock the door when she is out.
I believe some of has has felt that life shut us out the same way. We were sometimes being taken advantage of and hurt so badly by others.
The good news was that her other brother Absolom took her in and cared for her.
As i read the story I acctuall grasped what I was reading.
You see King David was her father, and so is God the King our father.
Tamar was facing the same giants I had to face in the past. I could just imagine how she felt, dirty, abuses, unwanted, mistreated, rejected and been taken atvantage of. I know this feelings as well.
But Absolom took her in just as she were, after being raped, abused and shut out.
That is what God is doing for us right now. Despite all our past failures and rejection, he became our Absolom in life, that took us in on the, to care for even if no one else wanted 2.
This was so great for me to make sense from this scripture, that i really felt that I had to share this.
This is I believe, for everyone that was hurt before, thrown away, rejected or unwanted. This is for all the daughters of the King whom was stripped away from womenhood.
God will Protect, care, take in and love!

Linda,
I am amazed that you were able to glean so much out of that story since you are so new in Christ! That so blesses me!
I read on another thread where you were wondering about dealing with your past.
God led me to a book/study awhile back that I think might be a real blessing to you. I have actually thought of doing this study together with other women, as apparently they are now in many places.
Anyway, here is a link to the book and the author's website. After reading through the book myself, I can say it is very helpful to those who have had to deal with abusive backgrounds.
Hugs and kisses to you, precious one

Our loving God:
But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us,
Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;)
And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus. Ephesians 2:4-6.

If you read the Song of Solomon... there's a moment when the Beloved is too tired to get out of bed to let in her beloved. Then she changes her mind, and goes to open the door, but he's gone.
So she runs to look for him in the city... and she's taken and stripped and beaten by the watchmen. Now she's walking back to her place, heart broken, thinking that her beloved will never return to her... but there he is, where he was all along, waiting for her in the garden. He gathers her to him, and they are never seperated again.
We can all be like that with God... we take Him for granted, and only when we think He's gone do we jump up and desperately seek Him. Then we find ourselves vulnerable, all our imperfections seem to loom about us again, we're attacked and assailed on every side.
When we return to where we found Him first, there He still is, there He always was, and will be... and He'll never let us go.
A lot of women can relate to this, for many reasons. I'm so glad Linda that you take comfort in the King.

Thank you sooooooooo much for your input, this was really put out so nice and simple, and most of all so true. Song of Solomon will be the next book to read then I suppose, as I did not do much reading of the Bible before.

Just found out today, that the word Tamar means, palmtree, and in Psalm 1 God promises if we remain godly and seek Him and not sit with the ungodly, that we will not wither, and we will grow and prosper like a tree that is planted by the waters!;)

The past couple of weeks somethings about the past haunted me for a while, and I rememberd what I read in 2 Sam 13. At this stage when I read this, it was just a story of promises. But today I could come back and actually agree, that God will take us in, no matter what happend in life. God does love His children, and this King of Kings, surely does know what is best for His children. I want to give God praise, because this story I read, is no longer just a story for me, but I can surely say that God did take me in, provided, forgiven and loves me, despite of whom I am!:pp
