They all started strong, their race to run,
And a few fell in the heat of the noon day sun.
They ran through the storm in the late afternoon.
They ran through their sorrows, troubles and gloom.
When the twilight set in there were others who fell,
But the rest ran on the great story to tell.
They ran for the souls of others to gain,
Refusing to stop in spite of the pain.
They ran through the darkness and cold of night,
To show others the way to that city of light.
And now with the gates of that city in view,
Where their race would end with all things new,
They gazed back over the path that they had ran,
To see the bones of those who paused to rest in the sand.
As they entered the city their race was fully run.
They had finished well and their duty was done.
1 Corinthians 9:26-27, "I therefore so run, not as uncertainly; so fight I, not as one that beateth the air: But I keep under my body, and bring it into subjection; lest that by any means, when I have preached to others, I myself should be a castaway."
