Each day that dawns finds me here
The air is so damp and cold
Chill soon surrounds me
And I know how much I miss you

Walking along a lonely road
So many miles from home
Dismal rain falls through the fog
And I know how much I miss you

Often at night I sleep outside
Without a blanket over me
Then the night wind moans among the trees
And I know how much I miss you

But everyday I travel on
My mind is always drifting
But soon it settles upon your name
And I know how much I miss you

Thank you Given for this poem. My only Son has been in Iraq for fifteen months and will be home, the Lord willing, in 12 more days. The next twelve days will be 12 days of Christmas. Your poem has been more of a blessing to me than you will ever know. I myself am a veteran, my father and his father were veterans. We are looking so forward to having our Son home with us again. God Bless You and remember, Charity never faileth!

I could so much rely to this poem. I know the feeling of being far away from loved ones and missing them so. Thank you given for this wonderfull poem!
