I thought we might share with each other the highlight of our year 2008. What is the most fantastic memory of 2008 and what God has done for you?

October 17th, I got married to the most wonderful woman in the universe. Without a shadow of a doubt, that is the most amazing thing God has done for me this year. I could not have received a more beautiful gift.

Wonderful thread. :)

In 2008, God pulled me closer to Him just when I needed it, broke some old chains that were holding me back, and showed me a new path in life which I'm walking with Him now as a single woman.... and I'm so grateful. It's an amazing freedom, and I'm only looking forward to 2009 because I know Christ is with me.

And WOW, Pilgrim -- a marriage is a beautiful, special gift indeed. :)

Great Thread! October 23rd, I became a grandma, and have a little grandson! While my daughter was having her c-section I prayed aloud in front of my family, and some eve joined in the prayer with me. These are unbelivers, but they cried out to God with me. Joy all around!

That is an absolutely beautiful thing! Wow! Praise the Lord for that opportunity!

Pilgrim, I am still so happy that you and your wife are finally together! As you probably guessed, my highlight of the year is also my marriage! Daniel got back from Iraq in March, we got married in May, and we have been so happy together ever since. He is such a huge blessing in my life and I praise the Lord daily for him! It's been a good year for us. :D

Watching four teenagers at church this year get baptised. It's so wonderful to see people giving their lives to the saviour!

My highlight for 2008!
I received the best gift man could ever receive. Being saved on 27 October 2008. Freed from slavery of drug addiction, and my relationship with God is just growing stronger and stronger!:pp

Great thread, Pilgrim!;)

In 2008, the Lord has been drawing me closer to Him through showing me He is there in my most darkest hour. In which case since He is Light, isn't so dark after all!

Praises to our King!

Wow, what wonderful things to praise God for like a mother being cancer free, a wedding, a newborn daughter, a grandchild, and more!

I am so grateful to God for opening ministry doors..(new things) I never imagined last year at this time. Like it will soon be a year since I joined the team here and that has been a learning experience for me as well as a blessing. And then doors to the church ministry opened and I find myself in counseling and prayer ministry there. And with my husband as part of the prayer team ministers..we are sometimes called to go into the hospitals, homes, and other facilities and pray with and visit the sick and elderly.

:bible:But..this is the biggest praise report of 2008 for me. Following our pastor's directive to do the bible in a year plan..my husband and I went all the way through the bible day by day and I wrote extensively in a journal reflecting on what I read. Yesterday and today I read back through three journals I did along with that plan this past year. I can see so often where God used the scriptures to encourage, teach, convict, and guide me along the way. Today being the last day of the year.. is our last day doing that and now I am eager to see what is next. I have studied the bible for many years; but this has been the very best of bests maybe because my husband did it too. That alone is a big praise thing for me that we could both grow in the study of the scriptures and often share together. It hasn't always been that way!!!!

Praises to God for yesterday, today, and tomorrow! :pp

God has been amazing this year. He came through for us on so many levels. Financially it's been really bad but we made it. I can't even begin to tell you about all of the ways he rescued us. Maybe another time. I'm just so thankful and I pray 2009 will usher in with HIS blessings on my life.

AFter beeing a devoted father and husband since 1989, I became a slave to Christ in 2006.
In 2008, I was baptised in front of my children and parents. I gave my testimony and it was the happiest moment of my life.

So many wonderful things to be thankful for in this thread!

I think I'd say that mine was the birth of my newest grandson. I now have five! And for the closeness he's brought between my husband and I. I thought we were as close as we could be before, but our Father just keeps taking us deeper and deeper and it gets better and better. (We'll be married 31 years in a few months and WOW... God's gift's don't fade or fray over time. They just keep improving! He's amazing!)

By far the highlight of 2008 for me was when i re-dedicated my life to the Lord back in february after nearly a 25 year slide.

He has bin so good to me, im just overwhelmed with how much love and joy the Lord has blessed me with. Never in my wildest dreams did i ever expect Him to be so amazing, so wonderful, so lovingkind. Jesus is with me all the time ,everwhere I go, thank you Lord !!!!thank you Jesus!!! :pp

What a great passage it is in James.

Draw near to God and He will draw near to you.
You have drawn back to Him and wish to have him be Lord in your life again. What a blessing!

I overcame pride and ego, and so many negative emotions and joined the church. The people i had condemed, became my friends. Many had prayed for me. One Lord - One Bible - and now One Church.

Thank you for sharing your best bits of 2008, and to the original poster for such a great idea. May 2009 be a blessing to each of you, in Jesus name, SofTy.

2008 has been an insanely crazy year. Seems the world has been turned upside down. The Lord called me into ministry, I quite my job to go to seminary, and the Lord blessed me with a full ride scholarship. My family has been healthy. My boys are growing in so many ways, and I love hearing my 4 year old son tell me that we need to pray for people that he knows. God is so good, and I can't praise him enough. Good thing that, by His grace, I'll be able to praise Him for all eternity.

Ah, a wonderful thread! Thanks for starting it, Pilgrim (and congratulations on your marriage, btw!!) I've loved reading all your posts of God's goodness in the last year.

I am so thankful for two new additions to our family...my new daughter-in-law, Melissa, who married my son Jacob in a wonderful September wedding, and my newest granddaughter, who joined my daughter Sarah's family just in time for Thanksgiving (that makes five grandchildren for me, too!) God has been very kind to us, much more than I deserve!

A few things:
This year my husand and I have had the best year yet. This has helped us be better parents and set better exapmles. In addition, I feel we've both gotten closer to God.
I have to also say that finding this forum has been awesome for me. One of the little contributors to getting me thinking about God ALL day long...

Making contact with my birth mother and family again, and realising through this forum that Daughter and I are distant cousins, with so much in common. That's pretty awesome.

My highlight may be a strange one........ :D
My husband is my main caretaker, and I wanted to do something back..... ever since he came in the Netherlands from the USA, my dream has been to give him new, better fitting, dentures so he could eat everything he wanted to....... and this year, my dream came true...... we have had to postpone it time and time again due to my health....... but now we came through and after half a year of struggling (he had to get implantates in the hospital with an admittance due to bloodthinners), he finally has his new dentures since the beginning of December and we're very happy about that..... he loves them and can eat anything he wants again! :pp

Thanks Daddy for realising my dream! :pp

And of course another highlight is that I survived another year! :pp

Love you,
Mieke

On July 26th Jesus called my beautiful mother to Heaven, it was my greatest heartache, and yet God gave me the greatest blessing by choosing her to be my mother. She was 90 yrs old. I thank God for the honour of loving her for all of my 57 yrs of life
