SORROW

The sorrow of the world – being without faith – worketh death. Sorrow – joined with faith worketh repentance unto life.

He is despised and rejected of men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief: and we hid as it were our faces from him; he was despised, and we esteemed him not. Is. 53:3

Yet it pleased the LORD to bruise him; he hath put him to grief: when thou shalt make his soul an offering for sin, he shall see his seed, he shall prolong his days, and the pleasure of the LORD shall prosper in his hand. Is. 53:10

I know, O LORD, that thy judgments are right, and that thou in faithfulness hast afflicted me. Psa. 119:75

Sorrow is better than laughter: for by the sadness of the countenance the heart is made better. Eccl. 7:3

For godly sorrow worketh repentance to salvation not to be repented of: but the sorrow of the world worketh death. 2Cor. 7:10

Sorrow – the gift of GOD that cleanseth

Unto the woman he said, I will greatly multiply thy sorrow and thy conception; in sorrow thou shalt bring forth children; and thy desire shall be to thy husband, and he shall rule over thee. Gen. 3:16 And unto Adam he said, Because thou hast hearkened unto the voice of thy wife, and hast eaten of the tree, of which I commanded thee, saying, Thou shalt not eat of it: cursed is the ground for thy sake; in sorrow shalt thou eat of it all the days of thy life; Gen. 3:17

For whom the Lord loveth he chasteneth, and scourgeth every son whom he receiveth. Heb. 12:6 If ye endure chastening, God dealeth with you as with sons; for what son is he whom the father chasteneth not? Heb. 12:7

As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten: be zealous therefore, and repent. Rev. 3:19

I will be his father, and he shall be my son. If he commit iniquity, I will chasten him with the rod of men, and with the stripes of the children of men: 2Sam. 7:14

For even hereunto were ye called: because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that ye should follow his steps: 1Pet. 2:21 Who did no sin, neither was guile found in his mouth: 1Pet. 2:22 Who, when he was reviled, reviled not again; when he suffered, he threatened not; but committed himself to him that judgeth righteously: 1Pet. 2:23

But rejoice, inasmuch as ye are partakers of Christ’s sufferings; that, when his glory shall be revealed, ye may be glad also with exceeding joy. 1Pet. 4:13

Wherefore let them that suffer according to the will of God commit the keeping of their souls to him in well doing, as unto a faithful Creator. 1Pet. 4:19

How long shall I take counsel in my soul, having sorrow in my heart daily? how long shall mine enemy be exalted over me? Psa. 13:2

Until sorrow hath worked its perfect work.

Many sorrows shall be to the wicked: but he that trusteth in the LORD, mercy shall compass him about. Psa. 32:10

The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit: a broken and a contrite heart, O God, thou wilt not despise. Psa. 51:17

Yea, for thy sake are we killed all the day long; we are counted as sheep for the slaughter. Psa. 44:22

The righteous cry, and the LORD heareth, and delivereth them out of all their troubles. Psa. 34:17 The LORD is nigh unto them that are of a broken heart; and saveth such as be of a contrite spirit. Psa. 34:18 Many are the afflictions of the righteous: but the LORD delivereth him out of them all. Psa. 34:19

For his anger endureth but a moment; in his favour is life: weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning. Psa. 30:5

He healeth the broken in heart, and bindeth up their wounds. Psa. 147:3

Surely I have behaved and quieted myself, as a child that is weaned of his mother: my soul is even as a weaned child. Psa. 131:2

Before I was afflicted I went astray: but now have I kept thy word. Psa. 119:67

NUN. Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path. Psa. 119:105

It is good for me that I have been afflicted; that I might learn thy statutes. Psa. 119:71
