Is evil an opposite force to good, or is it simply the absence of good?

According to the following scriptures, just as sure as good exists, evil exist.

Gen 2:17 (http://bibledatabase.org/cgi-bin/bib_search/bible.cgi?BIBLE=48&BOOK=1&CHAP=2&SEARCH=jesus king lord&Read=Read&FIRST=OK&HV=17) But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die.

Gen 3:5 (http://bibledatabase.org/cgi-bin/bib_search/bible.cgi?BIBLE=48&BOOK=1&CHAP=3&SEARCH=jesus king lord&Read=Read&FIRST=OK&HV=5) For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil.

God bless you!

How can it be the absence of good? That would be like saying God doesn't exist, since God is good, and that He is from everlasting to everlasting.

The same can't be said about evil. According to Rev ch 22 and ch 23, evil will have been done away with at the point.

According to the account in Gen ch 3, this is when evil entered the world thru Adam. Based on that, evil would be a force, opposite of good, or IOW, satan and his angels.

Evil in Scripture is defined as wickedness. Wickedness is defined as twisted and make crooked in Hebrew. Evil is to do as Satan did in his first act in the Bible. He twisted the truth of God. Evil is to pervert good or twist good. Hence, evil is not the opposite of good, but a perversion of good. Therefore, this is how we are fooled by it sometimes because it sometimes mimics truth or looks like good.

The evil is a perversion of the established order, which is fundamentally good.

Evil itself is a description, not a reality.

Choosing the lesser of two goods is evil.

We can elaborate on this if you like.
