Oh I'm not down about it. Just being realistic. I have other hobbies that I indulge and I'm happy with. There just wouldn't be enough financial room between those hobbies and a strong financial foundation for my family.
I do envy you hog riders though.

You have the right idea, pick up something not too big and expensive to learn on, you will fall over and it doesn't hurt near as bad if you don't have a small fortune tied up in it.I suggest you take the Motorcycle Safety foundation 's beginners course at a local college before you buy a bike ,they provide a learner bike and teach you the basics you will take years learning on your own,Google MSF beginners course along with your city you live in and youcan find the nearest one to you,If you pass the class all you have to take is the written portion of the state exam in my home state,so there is another bonus,no drivers test!!I would stay under 500cc's until I got the basics down,Kawasaki makes a nice little vulcan 500 that is a sweet ride and they also have a Ninja 500 if you are leaning towards a sport bike,CL is the place to find a decent bike for the right price and it is the right time of the year to buy, good luck and be safe

I got a 650 Yamaha Silverado.
Mostly for cruising with my wife around...we like it. cheap entertainment on a saturday or anyday when broke.
My son loves to go for rides as well...He's eleven...so it is way cool.
Something about riding with your significan't other...it rocks.
Riding alone?? a pain in the rear.

I had a Suzuki GS500E when I was 16. Had it for about 4 months and lost it in a curve running just over 100mph. Got up and walked away from that one. Then a little over a month later I was running about 70mph and got hit head on by a car. Got up and walked back to the bike after sliding 135 feet down the asphalt. Needless to say, that was the end of my motorcycle days. That was about 15 years ago. I had been riding atvs and dirt bikes since I was about 10 or so and had plenty of motorcycle experience, just no road experience.

No it was not tough, it is just long, so you need plenty of time so you can rest when you need to. But then I enjoyed riding in the rain. That reminds me of another pic.

2004 Yamaha R6. I love sport bikes. Might start racing locally some day. Just too expensive right now and I would need to dedicate this bike to the track only. Can't afford that yet.
Great all around bike. Fast and handles like a dream. Takes no time to get to over a hundred (in controlled environment) and just sticks to the road when laying down at lower than 35 degrees.

I am in the same boat with you HisLeast.
I would love a Harley, too pricey, then I thought of a street legal dirt bike.
Ultimately, if I ever have the extra cash it would probably go to a better place.
Not to get off the subject but I just seen a little of "Wild Hogs" with Travolta and Tim Allen. That trip seemed great, minus the screwball situations they put themselves in. Anyway, talking about these bikes really sparked my memory of that movie.

I ride a 2006 Kawasaki Ninja 250-Black. I previously rode a 1987 Honda Shadow 1100. I rode the Shadow for quite a few years but decided it was too heavy (670 pounds.) The Ninja is only 330 pounds and after test driving it I find that the sport bikes are easier to ride and alot faster. I have more fun on this small sport bike then on the 1100 but I still miss the looks!
Safe riding everyone.

He is certainly please by our joy!!! Joy is, in my not so humble opinion, the most misunderstood and most unappreciated evidence of a relationship with God.
