It updated this morning and as I was watching its suggesting for add on's I picked one..it installed it but the whole tool bar for those add on's is now gone...:( I don't know what happened. I had to restart FF after adding the add on and it came back with that whole toolbar missing. The toolbar also had my email icon which would show when I had emails..now I have no idea if I do or not. It also had a weather icon showing the temperature and type of weather, like rain or snow. Can't see that either since the tool bar is gone. Also it had my controls for pop's up and that sort of thing.
Another odd thing..usually when I click on a link it opens a new tab for me..now instead its opening a whole new window and I have to lower my main one to get to it. It won't switch back and forth between the two...meaning, while I see it listed at the bottom on the page it won't come up if I click on it. I did not change these settings. I know they can be changed to the option of opening a new tab or a new window..I didn't change it so I don't know why its doing this.
Is anyone else having problems with the latest firefox update?
And does anyone have any idea how to fix these problems? Mostly I want my toolbar back..:help:

Thanks..it came back on the next day..after I had shut down the computer for the night. But now my computer is running very slow for some reason. My anti virus ran all morning...doesn't usually do that..I finally had to stop it because once in awhile it seems to get stuck ..so now I am running my adware to see if I have some bug cause when I type fast it doesn't even show for a few seconds. Been like that all day even after I restarted it. Now my adware program usually takes less then an hour...its been running over three hours now. So I don't know what the deal is.

More than likely it's the addon or update for firefox. If it continues to be slow try disabling the addon. firefox knows about these compatiblities issues.

You might also try system restore, to that point just before you downloaded the new add-on.
Otherwise, I would recommend completely uninstalling FF, then going to computer>Local Disk (c)>Properties>Disk Clean-up.
Then restart your pc, and see how it's operating without FF.
Run complete virus scan.
If everything seems okay at that point, then you might try reinstalling FF, without this new add-on, for the time being.

Ok I uninstalled the add on I had going on and that seems to be helping..at least on pages loading alot faster. I rebooted the computer but the 'babylon translator' is still showing when I right click my mouse and I can see its still affecting my typing as I type this there is still a lag off and on. I can even see the smilies to the right freezing for a couple of seconds, then they start moving again. I may have to shut it completely down, then start it to get that completely cleared off. ugh.
See since due to my Christian video's on youtube and other places I end up interacting with people speaking other languages in which I usually go to the bablefish website to translate what they are saying. I thought this would be a nice tool to have instead of having to go to that website all the time. I can just highlight what I want translated and it has a tiny window that does that. But this is driving me crazy having my computer go so slow like this.
So anyway HOPEFULLY once I shut it completely down then bring it back up that translator will be gone and quit slowing my typing up so much like this.
If not..I may be doing as you guys suggested...

Well I was wrong. It wasn't long after that it started lagging again. I have a question. Is it possible that if its firefox it could make my antivirius run very slowly too? sorry about my spelling..my spell checker isn't working as my computer is really slow right now. Going to reboot and see if that helps. I can barely type on here.

Yes, it is possible to slow down everything, including anti-virus, if there is a bug with the download.
I think in this case I would attempt a system restore to a point just before the add-on.
Then we should see how things turn out before trying another step. A virus can migrate across system restore points, but it's best to see if it is a virus first.

I really think at this point I would uninstall FF. Then, after cleaning up the disk (per post #5), restart your pc and see how things look. If ok, then I'd reinstall FF.
Big hassle, I know... but I've seen it work elsewhere.

You would loose your bookmarks, unfortunately. But if perhaps you could copy them somewheres, or perhaps write down the urls. Or even better, you could put all your bookmarks on IE, then redo them on FF.
Would also recommend, after, doing a complete DiskCheck. Go to Computer>Local Disk (c)>Properties>Tools<Check now (check both boxes) and restart your pc and wait for checkdsc to finish.

Ok I uninstalled fire fox and then re-installed it..didn't lose any of my bookmarks and even my add on's were still there...:hmm: And I can tell its still lagging. The lagging gets worse the longer I am on the net too...to the point I have to reboot to clear things so I can type again. Another note..my AVG did find two back door Trojans the other day. And put them in the vault. And really strange this is while my antivirus has been taking hours and hours to run, that day it only ran for an hour and was done..:hmm: Today it was back to running for hours again.
So I have no more ideas about what to do. This all just makes me think of a virus that sucks up the power in the computer making it run slower and slower but with those I am usually getting a ton of pop ups and I am not with this. I just don't know what else to do.

If the problem gets worse and worse while your posting, then it sounds like you still have a virus. Those two back-door viruses your avg found pretty much point to more.
Your avg should find them however, unless you have a virus that is disabling your avg, which is likely.
Microsoft has a free anti-virus program which is pretty good and which runs pretty quickly:

In addition to uninstallling firefox you also have to remove or rename your profile info, that's why everything was still there when you reinstalled.
Removing user profile data
Note: Starting in Firefox 3, on Windows systems you can use the Firefox uninstaller option, "Remove my Firefox personal data and customizations" (see above) instead of the following instructions to remove all Firefox user profile data. [5]
This step is only recommended if you want to completely remove Firefox from your system, and you do not want to save any of your data. This will remove your Firefox user profile data, which includes bookmarks, passwords, cookies, preference settings and added extensions.
Rename (or delete) the Firefox folder in the default profile path (or move it to a backup location). For example, on Windows XP, click the "Start" button, select "Run", type in %APPDATA% and click "OK" to open the hidden "Application Data" folder, then open the "Mozilla" folder and rename the "Firefox" folder.
Caution: Make sure that you rename the entire Firefox profile folder, which includes the profiles.ini file that keeps track of profiles. Do not simply rename or delete the profile folder that contains your user data, as doing so can result in a "profile in use" or "already running" message when you next attempt to run Firefox
http://kb.mozillazine.org/Uninstalling_Firefox
Before you do this though make a backup of your bookmarks so you can import them into the new install.

The ONLY 'catch' with the free version of Avast is that the make you re-register every 1 - 2 years.
But they do that with the paid ones to so your not getting treated different, in that respect.
It's more of the only licenses free or paid only last for a maximum of 2 years.
Then it's renewal time, which is very simple.

What probly happened it that like a lot of uninstallers out there.
1) It coulden't delete something that it didn't so that got left behind.
Or
2) There was a error dering uninstall and the uninstaller just gave of and left the files the instead of finishing the uninselation.
If you know where firefox is installed (if you have a shourtcut you can find out by right-click and selecting proporties then open file location).
The file location is not always cleaned up by uninstallers, even / sphaly ones from M$ and norton!ware.
So you must delete the files yourself or get a special program / special friend to do it for you.
So you may want to try to uninstall firefox again this time,
1) BACKUP the bookmarks and anything you care about.
2) Use shortcut to determine firefox's location if you don't know it already.
3) uninstall firefox.
4) reboot - some files can't be deleted until a reboot this is also why some uninstallers leave files behind.
5) look for / at firefox's old location and delete any file / folders you find.
6) reboot

I'm not saying that it is true in your case moonglow.
But slowdowns and other weirdness can be caused by malware / spyware just as easy as by viruses.
A good free anti-malware + anti-spyware program is Spybot S&D (http://www.safer-networking.org/index2.html)
The only real downside that I can see to it is that it doesn't have an auto update.
At least not as a basic setting only in the advanced settings.

There is your problem, Kiddo. If MS Malicious Software Removal does not clear it up, completely uninstalling FF, restarting your pc, and then running the Microsoft Essentials again, before reinstalling FF should clean things up.
Some of these viruses tend to reproduce, and as long as they are in FF you'll keep getting more. When you reinstall FF, it will be virus free. But, like Sammy and NewinChrist said, FF needs to be completely un-installed first.

One more thing you can do, Julie, is after you go to control panel and uninstall FF, you can run a Search for anything with "Fire" in name of the file.
Go to start>Search>All files and folders>then type fire in the top box and hit search and wait.
Delete every file Search finds if it looks related to FF. (first click then right click on each file and click delete.)

A lot of protection and minimum resources used.
