I saw it and it was picturesque. To be honest, it was just so pretty to watch and has definitely harnessed the 3-D technology.

Saw it...was a tad disappointed with certain features of it, like the casting of Uncle Iroh and the pronunciation of some of the names, but otherwise it was okay. Some parts of it are unnecessarily slow, though, I think thaty may be true to the series which was slow for the first book anyway and picked up big time in books two and three.

I saw it with my nephew a couple of weeks ago. I was pretty disappointed in it too, I have no idea why the director changed the things he did. He took out all the humor, and made some really weird modifications to the base story (why can't firebenders suddenly not make their own fire?).

That, and Momo was just creepy looking....

Quick question, bit off topic but related. I gather this was taken from a book series. Do you know the author and/or possibly the name of the first book? Author may do me more good as I have a computer cd with 5000 scifi/fanticy books on it and may have them if I know where to look. Don't want to derail the discussion so if you prefer to PM me the info. that's fine as well.

I thought it (requiring fire) made it more consistent with the other tribes though. Water benders need water. Earth benders need earth. Etc. I liked the added twist as it became more consistent and it gave a level to firebending to be acquired.

When I saw the movie, I too thought it was based on a book but it's not. It's based on anime. The first season was called book 1. You can watch it on netflix. After seeing the movie, I looked for it and found it. The first book is boring. But the next 2 are very entertaining. I hope they do a movie on the next two as well.

Slight correction, it's not technically anime. Nickelodeon produced it here in the USA. It's got a lot of anime feel to it, though. Personally, I liked all 3 books. The first one is just kind of a fun introduction to the series, then the next two go quite a bit deeper. Definitely a good series altogether, though, well worth your time to watch. :)
