One of most powerful Christian artists in the last few decades has been Keith Green. Though he died in a plane crash more than twenty years ago, his music continues to inspire millions upon millions of people. Would share your testimony of how Keith Green's music and message has impacted your life?
For myself, his music has left a lasting impression upon my heart. Being a musician and a straight-forward person, I found myself drawn by Keith's radical approach. He cut through the religious stuff and said things the way they were. His song To obey is better than sacrifice has reminded me so often that God doesn't want anything I can give - He wants me and my obedience. Make my life a prayer to you has often moved me to say once again to God that He can have all of me - no empty words and no white lies, no token prayers, no compromise. I could go on like this, but let me sum it up by saying that more than any other artist I know, Keith has insipred me to serve Jesus with all my heart, live a life without compromise, and to be bold to speak out the truth - no matter what other people think.
So how has Keith's music changed your life?

I was once a member of an abusive church. I was already under a heavy depression, but dealing with that made me completely depressed.
One day, i was at my lowest point ever up to that time. For a then-unknown-reason, I woke in the middle of the night, wandered into the livingroom, and turned on the TV. There was keith Green, singing. I watched for awhile, then I literally felt a strange sensation: I was smiling! It had been so long since I had that it literally felt odd -- muscles in my face that I had not used in a long, long time were awakened!
A month or so later, the same thing happened. I felt that strange sensation again. From then on, it didn't happen again, but I lived on those two memories for a long time.

Before I came to faith a girl I hung out with, who was struggling in her walk, used to listen to Keith all the time. I thought his music was boring but his lyrical content was excellent, even as an unbeliever.
Once I became a believer that admiration for his heart for the Lord and for others, that came through so clear in his songs, grew incredibly.
Keith was one in a million and his influence is still felt today because he sang from the heart and not for a quick buck or fame or any of that.
If you haven't read "No Compromise: The Life Story of Keith Green" by Melody Green I strongly recommend it. A good in-depth look into the man and his music.
Looking forward to hearing Keith again live some day :)

The first message I ever had the opportunity to deliver, I asked someone to play the Keith green song, "To Obey is better than sacrifice." I think... Not sure which song it was now. But my sermon was on being free in Christ.
Keith Green was the Christian artist who stirred me up to follow Christ. I loved the fact, also, that he made his tapes available at whatever price you could afford. He was not out to make money.

I saw Keith Green in concert many years ago when he was just becoming well known. His music was and still is powerful. I cry when I listen to some of his songs.
He was and still is an inspiration.

I know what you mean.
I have "Your Love Broke Through" and "When I Hear the Praises Start" (my personal favorite) in my own personal mix of songs that I listen to regularly at work. I still listen to those two songs several times every week, even nowadays.
