I have noticed in these boards about the different references to the same word members use. This can be expected, since members come from all over the world here, so I was just curious.

I think this poll was done before.
But anyways; a couple of years ago (when I was just a young'n) we called it Sodie Pop, in St. Louis. Then shortened it to Sodie, and then no matter the flavor it was transformed to Coke.

If I'm hanging out with my dad and his buddies, we say "colddrink" (as opposed to "coldbeer"). Otherwise, it's a "Coke", regardless of whether it's Coke, Sprite or Dr Pepper.

"Coke" as the generic term....unless you want a specific 'off-brand'
Too bad you didn't offer "Coke" in the voting, it would probably have won the vote.

When I was growing up, "soda" was something Mama took for indigestion. And a "pop" was a type of correction before she made us go and break a keen switch for further correction.
We had real milk "cows milk" to drink, sweet milk and butter milk, not the kind from grocery stores. But from old Suzie, our pet cow.
We had "sweet tea" to drink for Sunday dinner. And after we got electricity and had ice to put in our "sweet tea", we called it "ice tea". We knew that "ice tea" meant that we put ice cubes into our glass of "sweet tea".
Other than that, we had an abundance of good fesh water to drink. And it was good and cold when we gave that old pump a few pumps.
I grew up in "Pepsi" country. Only got them though in the summer when we were gathering in the crops. "Coke" was something that Daddy bought us only when we were sick. But I changed to "Coke" when I got married since my husband grew up in "Coke" country. And I have enjoyed "Coke" now for over 46 years.

A lot of people from Wisconsin say soda. I'm originally from Chicago but now live in Tennessee. I say either pop or Coke.
My husband (born here in Tenn.) laughs at me when I say pop. He asks me how I can drink a sound.

Pop! I'm from Iowa, and everyone I know (except for the weirdos...) call it pop. Although, now that I'm in Florida, I'm sad to say that I'm following the crowd and calling it soda. I guess I could lie and say that Disney requires me to say soda to the guests just like we're required to use the two finger point... but then that'd be lying. ;)

Fizzy juice (to distinguish it from diluting), fizz or the brand name eg Coke! Again, like C of S, it's a British thing!
I love the international language distinctions! One of my favourites (correct spelling, btw!!!! ;) ) was the other day when I said that our house is heated by gas!!!!! :o:o:o

Up north (US) its pop.
Down south its soda or coke.
It is only 'soda' down south, when transplanted yankees living in the south say it.
For southern-born down south, it is always Coke.
For really old southerners, you might hear -- cold-drink or dope.

I say soda, even though I live in TX. My parents grew up in CA and say soda. Their parents came from Minnesota and Maryland, respectively, and I'm pretty sure they say soda (my mom's mom may say soda pop, I'm not sure).
Most of my truly Texan friends say Coke (which I find interesting because Dr. Pepper is the carbonated beverage native to Texas...).

Funny poll question. :)
I grew up in Detroit area, and we said "pop".
Then after undergrad, moved to DC area, where everyone says "soda". In Boston (where I later moved) it's also "soda". Moved back to mid-west (Columbus, OH) in 2000, and . . . . back to "pop"
So, I'm thinking "pop" is a mid-west term, "soda" is east coast.
What's California say? Give me a cola?
