To really understand Arminianism in my opinion (which was a response to the Cavinism of his Institutes) one has to start with an understanding of original church doctrine which would today be considered a type of synergism (God initiates, God alone justifies, God alone has the power to save, it is not of man because God owes no man anything, as all have sinned, but a response from man who is created with free will is sovereignly required before God will save in the temporal), then explore the difference between what became Roman Catholicism vs Orthodox (note that the Orthodox did not hear of or pay attention to Augustine for about 100 years and ended up with a totally different view of what we call original sin...I actually find their view to be correct), then understand the true Augustine (which does not deny the role of man's free will) and where Calvin took Augustinianism to an extreme, then you can see Arminianism in its true light as first a response...then finally note that post Arminian Calvinists (responding to some of Arminius's points) "reformed" Calvinism at the Synod of Dort. Now we have all forms of Calminians and Arminivists.

Hyper Calvinists and hyper Arminians are stuck in their "doctrine" having to ignore or re-interpret the many scriptures that refute or oppose there extreme views. Their doctrine is almost worshipped and held by each to be what one must believe to be truly understanding scripture and they judge any who do not see their extremism as being in denial of the word of God (nothing could be further from the truth).

This has caused a major schismatic arguing in the body of Christ for about 500 years. The truth MUST allow for all the scriptures...predestination AND free will will be compatible in the truth as they both are clearly taught in the scriptures...

The phenomenon is nothing short of a lack of the very fiber of truth that sets us free from "frustration". If indeed someone is truly suffering from frustration, than as scriptures tells us,"We will know them by their fruits". You see God is not a god of frustration, He is a God of peace, love, joy, understanding. Frustration is one of Satan's tools. Prayer is only good for those who can pray according to Gods will. You cannot pray while being frustrated. Humble yourself to Gods will and seek his face in all things present, past and future and do not worry. For a strong form of frustration comes from worry and worry comes from not trusting in the Lord.

A lot of people aren't ready for Jesus to return. THAT right there is frustrating to me.

I'm not doing a real good job of witnessing to other people. PLUS, I'm not getting near as many opportunities to do so as I'd like.

The fact that the world is full of unsaved people has been bothering me more for the last two years than it ever has before in my life.

Neat. I've been studying Mormonism lately, but more specifically, how to witness to Mormons. Jesus witnessed to people by appealing to what was important to them, speaking in their language: (To the fishermen, "I will make you fishers of men." To Zacchaeus, a lover of wealth and influence, Jesus gave him the honor of staying in his home.)

The problem with Mormonism is - first of all, it's so weird. Second, most Mormons don't even know how weird their own religion is, because they're not taught to learn, nor to think for themselves.

I am interested to know what you learn on Jehovah's Witnesses, because I know little about them except they are "the other" religion solicitors, other than Mormons!

    Gringo300,

I am new to this site, I have no idea how you feel at this time. Just be encouraged to know that God knows your situation and he will get you through this valley. Praying God's will for you and your grandma.

sidenote...... while typing "grandma" I typed Frandma instead (typo of course).....but it made me think, my grandma was my very first true friend, always listening, never judging, supportive and loving. So FRANDMA would be a good name. GODISLOVE

    Amen...I'm with ya!

Remember the word that I said to you, 'A slave is not greater than his master.' If they persecuted Me, they will also persecute you...

Many are the afflictions of the righteous, But the LORD delivers him out of them all.

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our affliction so that we will be able to comfort those who are in any affliction with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God.

We don't know the context of what happened, and as you are probably aware, it sounds a bit cynical.
However - if you are talking about WORK - then definitely! Never let your guard down, and don't trust anything that you don't have in writing. Be extremely careful of what you say, do and write.

In love sadly - it can be the same thing. Never take anything for granted.

Perhaps you and I are in the same situation at the moment. Feeling cynical and slightly depressed.

Of course - you can always talk to God, Jesus..... But it's not like it's a dialogue (apologies for the blashpemy...) You don't get a clear response and it's all down to faith and trust that the Bible's message about God's nature is true.

When we go through trials, we either brought them upon ourselves (like in my current predicament), or they are supposed to make us stronger, to grow in faith and as a person.

Last time something ghastly happened I lost my faith for two years. This time I will try to persevere and continue to trust God. Try to do the same.....!

If anyone more mature in their faith sees this, please help both gringo and me with some encouragement......

There are always going to be obstacles to us from coming on here, to have fellowhip and support with other Christians, and more importantly from spending time with God. The fact that you have recognised that this is an issue, means that you can now make an effort, to take care of your spiritual life and keep yourself nourished by God's word, and by the friendship and encoouragment of his people. Pray for God to help out with the obstacles. He doesn't want anything to come in the way, either.
    Blessings.

There is a verse somewhere in one of the prophets...God says that His people aren't even ashamed of what they are doing. When you read it, you get the sense that He is outraged that they no longer even have the slightest fear of Him that they would at least try to hide what they do. They have moved into doing it openly and without the slightest bit of fear. They have begun to do what they do with a haughty look on their face. I wonder where the verse is and I wonder how much time passed after He confronted them with it until He brought the hammer down...I read your other blog, the newer one, and I understand what you mean in it. And there is a verse that seems to confirm your suspicions. It has always amazed me, this verse. It is where Jesus says that it will be better for certain groups of people who God DESTROYED than it will be for them. It leaves me saying: but...hell is hell. How would hell be more tolerable somehow for some than for others...? How could it be more tolerable for some who face His judgement than for others?? Yet He said it, so I assume there is something we can't see...

    Your right.
Nothing you say or do can change anything, outside the will of God. God is in control and what you see happening is all for a reason. If God did not want it to happen, trust me it would not happen. So what are we to do, since there is nothing we can say or do? We look to God and make ourselves available to seek his wisdom in all of this and be still and know that he is God. He will give us the words to say, when the time is right. He is God. Now enjoy the joy of your salvation and ponder on his awesomeness.

The way I wrote this blog was kind of confusing. When I was referring to having made serious mistakes, those didn't involve muscle building. I was posting about two different subjects.

I'd like to give you a little advice. I was a very serious lifter for years and also involved in various other types of bodybuilding exercise as well.

You will do yourself a huge disfavor if you do not strengthen your core muscles and do a more full body centered workout when starting out. Even if you used to lift if it's been a few years since you've done it you can really get yourself out of wack and suffer for it in the long run.

Strengthen your core and start a good cardio routine is my advice. Then after you have a good foundation you should move on to more isolated workouts.

When I was working out a lot, I did some of these combinations.

Day one - Legs (thighs and hams) and back (pulling motions) (ALL heavy weight - low reps)
Day two - Arms and shoulders (All heavy weight - low reps)
Day three - Chest and calves (all heavy weight - low reps)
Day four - Legs (t and h), back, shoulders (lighter weight and higher reps)
Day five or six (based on recovery) - Arms, chest, calves (lighter weight and higher reps)

For me, this was a programmed that worked the best. NOW... a 6-8 week program of lifting REAL heavy, I didn't do the consecutive days and just killed myself every other day doing days 1,2,3 only in a week's time. I did REAL heavy programs twice a year.

Being new to this... you want to prep your body to deal with the new stimulation of the workout to the muscles. So a Upper day and then a Lower day, alternating days, is a good plan.

So what you are doing is good to go.

Once your body is beginning to adjust to the working out (usually about 6 weeks of steady work and lifting) then you can begin to adjust days and really begin to isolate muscle groups.

Also... what is your over all goal?

Strength/Endurance... this will be a workout that is lighter in weight but higher in repetitions.

Bulk and pure size/power... this will be a workout that is heavy and low repetitions.

As time goes by, you will shift from one to another unless you are pursuing a specific need. Like for powerlifting, the main program will always be heavy with low reps. Some weeks may be lighter and higher reps but not a full 6-8 week program. Maybe a week or two during that long period.

Also... ALWAYS incorporate CARDIO workouts. Exercise is MAINLY to get in shape and for HEALTH. That heart needs to be made the STRONGEST and this is always through CARDIO.

DO research... diet and REST (recovery) is always a KEY to this. REST a priority because if you fail to recover properly between workouts, you can seriously or even permanently injure yourself. Diet influences the recovery somewhat but proper timing is more important. Also, you can slack on diet and still get some good workouts... slack on the recovery and all you are doing is hurting yourself.

Always be balanced too... noting worse then seeing dude's grunting and groaning lifting MASSIVE weight and their arms are bigger then their thighs and they walk around on peg legs with a well muscled upper body. They're the one's wearing the baggy sweatpants even though the gym is 100 degrees

Don't get frustrated... frustration is a GIMME and ALWAYS afflicts anyone who is trying to get in shape!

Ok, I worked on the chest, back, and shoulders along with the arms. They're all kind of connected to the arms. I didn't work on the legs yesterday. I'm going to do that today.

I've just started on this, and I haven't gotten it all quite figured out yet.
