If there be any "doubting Thomases" out there, they can always refer to him, himself. John 20:26 And after eight days again his disciples were within, and Thomas with them: then came Jesus, the doors being shut, and stood in the midst, and said, Peace be unto you. 27 Then saith he to Thomas, Reach hither thy finger, and behold my hands; and reach hither thy hand, and thrust it into my side: and be not faithless, but believing. 28 And Thomas answered and said unto him, My Lord and my God. 29 Jesus saith unto him, Thomas, because thou hast seen me, thou hast believed: blessed are they that have not seen, and yet have believed. Jesus did not correct Thomas for what He had said unto Him, but He did affirm what Thomas had said unto Him.
Thank you for your post, it has helped me decide which course in writing I must take, Alan
So far as the geology of fossilized reefs and their age, examine the presumptionsabout how long it takes to add a layer. On the other hand, what is it about a flood that would have stopped the growth of a reef? Depth? How long did that last? Long enough to kill a reef?
Simple. The universewascreated with age, just as were Adam and Eve. The rest is speculation based on assumptions about the constancy of variables. They are good assumptions scientifically, perhaps. But resolving ultimate questions about reality requires revelation, not reasoning from within the system, using the system's own dynamics. So, science is good for what it is good for, if people keep the politics and corruption of the method out of it. But revelation is good for all things. We can count on that.
I don't know. I mean, I do agree with you on things in your article, but at the same time, I don't. What if God has placed you in a particular relationship because it was His timing for the two to date and then get married. If they did not kiss until marriage, or do anything except have a close bond that had the foundation of the Lord. Would that be sinful? Two people can bring so much glory to the Lord in a relationship that is Godly. Two hearts that are put together to do the work of the Lord and then follow that union in marriage.
Dating=sex? Seriously? Sorry, but my wife and I dated before we were married and both were Christians at the time. Probably all my contemporaries in my church did the same. So my wife was not Godly because she allowed me to kiss her and hold her hand? Really? And you last comment does not seem to follow. How did not touching another suddenly get conflated with telling lies or deceiving?
Righteous parents? "Righteous" can mean different things in different contexts. It is stated in the Bible: "All have sinned and come short of the glory of God." "There are none righteous, no not one." If your parents are descended from Adam and Eve, under this definition, they aren't going to be righteous. I know one thing: If I ever have one or more children, I hope they live far more moral and ethical lives than I was living 20 years ago. (Don't even bother asking me about THAT one. I'm not telling a word.)
Saying that 100% of the people who commit suicide think they don't deserve the agony they are in... there are so many holes in the logic of that, it's not even funny. Also, the whole concept of "self-esteem" can be twisted around many different ways. In some contexts, "low self-esteem" can be the result of one's own sin. A lot of people will try to "raise their level of self-esteem" WITHOUT REPENTING OF THEIR SIN.
Everyone is a soul from the breath of God and all need the Lord's salvation and love..this is my belief. This world is not our home and no flesh and blood will enter and it will be wonderful to see my whole family on the day we go home..will have a lot of visiting to do with such rejoicing and gladness..so, all people need the touch of Jesus who lives in us by his Holy SPirit..
Good for you. Unfortunately many professing Christians are taught by ambitious overseers to go along with what is popular in the world, such as self esteem, and many are deceived into supposing it is the Lordīs will. But plainly the Spirit of Truth speaking through Paul tells us that we are to esteem (regard and value) otherīs better than ourselves, and let this mind be in us which was also in Christ Jesus. Moreover the Lord Jesus Christ tells us that that which is highly esteemed among men is abomination in the sight of God, and self esteem is one that is highly esteemed in this world.
When someone can give me a better explanation about why we see objects 15 billion light years away than Barry Setterfield's flawed "quantization of the red shift" theory then I'll believe the universe is 6,000 years old. I believe in a pre-adamic civilization that was ruled by Lucifer and was then destroyed by his rebellion. It's interesting to note that Adam was told to "replenish" the earth using the same hebrew word that Noah was told when God told him to replenish the earth. It's pretty much an established fact that the universe IS older than 6,000 years. I once went to a seminar given by Ken Ham from the "answers in Genesis" group. He did have some good stuff and presented an interesting apology for a young earth. However,he couldn't deal with the red shift issue. Setterfield's theory was pretty much taken apart about a year ago (http://www.fsteiger.com/light.html) However, I am willing to adopt a six day creation of the entire universe instead of a re-creation of the earth 6,000 years ago if the speed of light issue is properly addressed. I guess my problem is that I am pretty much orthodox when it comes to interpreting Genesis literally. The only way I see to do that in the face of what I consider overwhelming evidence to an old universe is the classic Scofield/Finis Dake pre-adamic civilization theory.

A little checking around suggests that living reefs are in general 6000 to 9000 years old. Of course there are many fossilized reefs that are much older than that.
