  1. - I Can’t Do It Myself –

Judges 3:31, “… Shamgar the son of Anath killed six hundred men of the Philistines with an ox goad; and he also delivered Israel”

"I can't do it." Have you ever spoken those words when faced with a task that seems too great? I have! Perhaps you've been offered a promotion at work, but are afraid you're not skilled enough. You may have been asked to teach a Sunday school class, but fear you don't know the Bible well enough. God may have put it on ...
  2. God is Near (a children's poem)

    God is Near
    (a children's poem)

    by Belinda van Rensburg

God is with us all the time
    Making sure we're safe and fine;
Taking care of all our needs
And helping us to do good deeds.

In summer heat and winter cold
We always have His hand to hold
And though we're worried, glad or sad
We're daily cared for by our Dad.

God is near, in fact He's here
And we don't have to live in fear
    Of anything or anyone
  3. James...part 35

    'A Stron Word Of Warning'

The pivot from the end of chapter four to the start of chapter five is very important to catch. It is masked by the misleading chapter and verse markings that were never in the original manuscripts. In the original, 4:13-5:6 is all one paragraph and is a description of one main thought. But, in many translations this is broken up into several thoughts, and so the unity of James on this issue is lost:
'Now listen, you who say, “Today or tomorrow ...
  4. - The Lord’s Faithfulness –

Lamentations 3:22-23, “His compassions fail not. They are new every morning; great is Your faithfulness”
2 Thessalonians 3:3, “But the Lord is faithful, who shall stablish you, and keep you from evil”

The Lord Jesus Christ has many wonderful attributes, not the least of which is His faithfulness. That is, He is believable and trustworthy, sure to do all He promises. At the end of every year or month, it is good to set aside some time to review and record ...
  5. - Saved by Grace –

Ephesians 1:7, “In whom (Jesus Christ) we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace”

My friend, grace is such a truly beautiful word and a enormous Bible truth is resident in this one solitary word. In fact, it's a word and concept without which a person's salvation would be impossible. God is the sole source of Grace, which is a simple statement, but one that would take a lifetime to explain. It's a statement ...
