So this is pretty sobering, in Mark 11:25-26, Jesus says the following:

"if you have anything against anyone, forgive him, that your Father in heaven may also forgive you your trespasses. But if you do not forgive, neither will your Father in heaven forgive your trespasses."

The first question that may come to mind is "so I thought I was saved by grace, not by having to forgive people". You are correct, forgiveness is a fruit of a true conversion, if you don't have forgiveness for others, I believe you didn't have a true conversion.

Not convinced? Hear what the apostle John has to say in chapter 2 of his first epistle:

Now by this we know that we know Him, if we keep His commandments. He who says, “I know Him,” and does not keep His commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him. But whoever keeps His word, truly the love of God is perfected in him. By this we know that we are in Him. He who says he abides in Him ought himself also to walk just as He walked.

He only gave us two commandments that summed up the rest: 1) Love the Lord your God with all your heart, soul, mind, and strength. 2) Love your neighbor as yourself.

Without faith it is impossible to please God, because anything we do that is not by faith is sin. It is written, “Be holy, for I am holy.” Therefore, by faith, His children are being transformed into the image and glory of His one and only son, Christ Jesus.
