Meditations on a Pen

1
The paper was made for the pen to write
Stories the Poet will read with delight,
But the page accepts words without meaning;
Not caring if the tale is wrong or right.
2
Poet, take this pen within Your great hand.
Allow it to write words that You command.
Take it, lovingly, in Your holy grasp.
Uphold it to learn, and to understand.
3
One letter at a time, is all it needs,
For the pen to write tales of faithful deeds.
As it transcribes the words You have given,
It never looks back, but ever proceeds.
4
Father, the pen knows! It truly does know
That every line written will help it grow,
And when it err's on a letter or word,
It then repents, and continues to flow.
5
The pen, penitent of all its mistakes,
Keeps writing along, because it forsakes
Each misspelled word it has ever written.
The Poet forgives - the paper takes.
