Bible Study - Interim 5 on 3 Jan 12 - Be Trigger Pullers
Well, God bless you all in this New Year!! As Christians we are blessed in knowing that each and every morning is a blessing of JOY from the Lord! So PRAISE Him!
Psalm 30: 4 Sing praise to the LORD, you saints of His,
And give thanks at the remembrance of His holy name.[a]
5 For His anger is but for a moment,
His favor is for life;
Weeping may endure for a night,
But joy comes in the morning.
Well, yesterday I began to write up this Interim Bible Study. I know on the 7th, I return to teaching the Armor of God study and will continue to proceed with that class for our church. This week, our church also begins to hold a Bible Institute where once a week the Bible will be taught for a full year of classes. I am also enrolled in the IDP at Lee University and for this semester that begins next week, I’m taking two Bible classes: Old Testament Survey and also New Testament Survey.
So, the Lord has not only placed me into a position to teach the Word of God but also LEARN more about the Word of God. I thank Him for this.
A reason I thank Him… a year ago, if all this was happening, I’d of felt overwhelmed and this would have caused me to run away because I was trying to do everything in my life… MY way, by MY rules, by MY strength. As I learned/experienced… I almost crashed and burned when I was about to make the choice to leave my church because I felt the church was the cause of my problems and distance away from God. Almost crashed and burned… I surrendered to God and it’s a long testimony for the future. All I will say is this… it was me, not anything or anyone ELSE that was at fault.
I’ve always wanted to learn more about God through His Word and I expected this to come from OTHERS!! Learning from others is a NEED all throughout the Body of Christ. Teaching the Word of God to others is a NEED all throughout the Body of Christ.
What I want to touch on however is this… none of this will establish a relationship with God.
The relationship that you have with God is between YOU and God and the choices that you have made to draw in close to God. Teachers can’t make that choice for you, any pastor over you can’t make that choice for you, any prayer partner, friends, even your spouse or loved ones… can’t make that choice for you. ONLY you make that choice and it’s between YOU and God.
I’ve spoke with atheists out there in the world both face to face and though chatting online and THEY could run circles around me with their Biblical knowledge.
It is WHAT the Word of God does in us as we begin to HEAR the Word of God… this is what establishes our relationship with God as we accept Christ and draw in closer from there! This is what maintains our relationship and also matures us in our relationship with God, BUT, always a but… this maintenance and growth is only true when it is done personally, ONE ON ONE with God through the choices we make in full surrender over to God.
I can go to all the Bible Colleges in the world, be taught by the best teachers in the world, have a wall covered in diplomas… but if I am not making time to sit all by my little lonesome, pray to God and draw into His presence and spend time with Him in reading the Bible with Him… all that “knowledge” about the Bible isn’t gonna get me any closer to Him.
There is a difference between… knowing ABOUT God and KNOWING God!
I’ve met people and spoke with people who know more ABOUT God and don’t have a clue in KNOWING God!
I can say so much but all I will say is this… KNOW GOD, so that in the end and you stand before Him for the first time in heaven… HE KNOWS YOU!!!
Do this properly when you attend Bible Studies and take what you learn and place yourself before God and speak to Him (prayer) about what you learned and what needs to be done with the knowledge from His Word to BECOME more than just “knowledge” and it become, LIFE CHANGING! Changes that mind, begin to LIVE as Christ lives, LOVE and Christ loves, DO as Christ does, FORGIVE as Christ forgives… I can go on and on with this.
Titus 2:11 For the grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all men, 12 teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly in the present age, 13 looking for the blessed hope and glorious appearing of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ, 14 who gave Himself for us, that He might redeem us from every lawless deed and purify for Himself His own special people, zealous for good works. 15 Speak these things, exhort, and rebuke with all authority. Let no one despise you.
When the teaching we receive from the Word of God changes us, we’ll do all that this scripture says to do. We will do those works that God needs doing and we will be zealous. It won’t be a matter of “tasks” to do; it’ll be a desire to GET GOOD works done because GOD is doing the work, through us.
You will not have that FEAR in walking up to a person on the street and asking them if they “know” Jesus Christ and if they are Born Again or not? You will not fear speaking the Gospel to those who answer, “NO”. You will not fear praying for them openly on the street either. These are simple examples of “good works” and we are to be ZEALOUS for the opportunity to do such good work for God. There is so much that God WILL DO through us, as “good works”.
The scripture is clear, WHILE we are looking for the return of Jesus (v13) we are ALSO speaking, exhorting, and rebuking with all authority and we will NOT allow ourselves to be hindered or stopped by the persecution from others (v15).
Be trigger pullers… God provided ALL the equipment needed to SPEAK, EXHORT and REBUKE in all authority but some just aren’t pulling the trigger. We have no “SAFETY” on our spiritual weapons and equipment of war because all we are provided by God… is MEANT to be utilized without ANY hesitation.
Christians are just NOT pulling the trigger.
