... Although I would suspect that most folks no a reasonable understanding of what a Christian is the liberal press has had a field day, of late, with the word fundamental and fundamentalist. It has become the easiest method to discredit people like myself because the to "tags," Fundamental Jihadist and Fundamental Christian share the first fifty per cent of their tags names. For that reason and because they both have their foundation from history I have chosen the former standard dictionary to get back to the root of the word.

Fundamental
Fundamental Fun"da*men`tal, n.
A leading or primary principle, rule, law, or article, which
serves as the groundwork of a system; essential part, as, the
fundamentals of the Christian faith.

... From the original definition it is clearly seen that the Fundamentalist believes in the foundation of his or her belief structure. The core of the Islamic Jihadist is the 164 basic verses of the Qu'ran, calling for the extinction of the Jews and the Christians and was written by the prophet Muhamad about 600 years after the death on the cross of Jesus, the Christ.
... On the other hand, Jesus taught us to love our enemy, not to slaughter them. So am I a Fundamentalist Christian? I say yes although there are those that very strongly disapprove of my methods. So the question must be asked, "Where do those methods come from?" My methods come from raising my son, my years in the military and the scriptures.
... In the Bible we see over and over that God loves His children and that whom He loves He chastens. (Heb. 12:6, Pro. 3:12 and many others.) In Vietnam I had a tent full of men that were to young to die and it was my duty to see that they, barring circumstances beyound my control, made it home to their wives, children and mothers. I was often found sitting with them over a hot beer, critiquing the way they had performed that day during the missions we had flown. I was also often found giving one of them the opportunity to examine my missing tonsils by screaming in their face over the stupidity of their actions that day.
... A prime example would be the day my gunner fell out of the door because a fifty cal. bullet ripped through the floor of the aircraft next to his left foot and he passed out. Because he had not been on the aircraft before I had made him put the monkey strap and harness on. (This is a parachute harness attached to a twenty foot strap that was secured to a cargo tie down in the floor.) When we landed I unhooked him, woke him up and read him the riot act for better than twenty minutes I was told.
... In the rearing of my son I spatted the back of his hands from the time he was six monthes until he was almost two years old. After that all I neede to do was to clear my throat and he knew he was about to mess up. The only wipping he got from his dad was at the age of eight, he ran out in front of a car and was almost hit. After that we both sat on the corner and cried as I explained why I had to do that to him.
... If I determine that being nice to someone will never get their attention, I am prone to go off on them, hoping to wake them up. Oh yeah, that young trooper lives in California today and I kept my location secret for almost thirty years after I got out but as soon as I regestered my location with the Battalion web site I recieved an email from that trooper. He had searched for me for thirty years to tell me thanks for teaching him how to live through that hell.
... Am I a fundamentist? I was before I became a Christian. I kept my socks dry by always having a pair between my t-shirt and my outer garment. I never trusted a new man on the right gun without a monkey strap, men fall out those cargo doors when they get excited. And I always kept my guns clean and my ammo fresh. Today as a Christian I have been accussed of being over studied because on of he biggest fundamentals in the Bible is to study to show one's self approved and I study something in my Bible every day.
... The Fundamentalist Christian is rooted in the word of God and I wish that every man would be. There is no shame in serving God, just the way He desires it to be.
