The Temptation

Rate this Entry
We are all familiar with the story of the temptation of Christ. Shortly after Christ was baptized by his cousin John Christ was led into the desert to be tempted by the devil. Now, if you are like me, you may think of the 3 temptations that are mentioned and think that was it.

At least I've never considered that there may have been more to it. And, certainly, those three are the major ones. And they definitely define major temptations, (the temptation to use His power for private gain, the temptation to prove who He was and the temptation to short circuit His mission and bypass the cross).

But think about it. Does it really make since that Satan would leave Christ alone. Not to me. No, for 40 days Satan was all over Christ, using every trick in the book to tempt Him. After all, the Bible does say that Christ was tempted in all things, like as we, yet without sin. While a certain amount of that could have come in the normal course of daily living I'm sure that Satan was doing all he could to tempt Christ.
