The God Who Sees Me

Isn't it interesting that we say we believe that God is sovereign, He loves us, He sees everything and knows everything, yet our prayers tell another story. Have you ever noticed how when trouble comes our way, we cry out to him in fear as if He has no clue what's going on and can't even hear our cries. Not only that but our prayers prove that we seem to think God, our Father and Savior, doesn't really care what's happening to us. Now before you assume that I'm calling us all faithless, please bare with me while I explain this.

It was just a couple of weeks ago that I was in straight up panic mode. You know the kind, where you see trouble coming your way and you begin to pray. I'll use a recent prayer of mine, the prayer goes

Power Less

Over the last several months the Lord has been teaching me about trusting Him to do what He does. Ya know the old saying; we can't do anything but plant seeds and water, as it is written, "it is God who gives the increase."

One recent afternoon the Lord was kind enough to help me understand this even further. I suddenly found myself feeling very small and weak, not physically, just in life in general. Oddly enough it felt pretty good, feeling so small was quite enjoyable, to be perfectly honest. There was a great sense of humility that came over me; not the kind the world knows wherein you feel defeated, but the kind of humility that leaves one feeling content, even victorious. There was an awareness that God was 'with me'. Not that I could feel

It cometh to you as the eternal, O Lord God, the Word, and for her country.

The title of this article is taken from Psalm 119:89 translated like a ping pong ball in time. Behold the permenace of the Word of God: from Aramaic to English, to Irish, to Latin, then back to plain English. The sweet frosting on the cake is this translation was not done by a scholar with a degree or a linguist rife with discernment. Instead, it was done by a machine.

It is refreshing to realize the Bible is more than prose. The word of God is, has been, and always will be, established firmly in heaven. Even today one might with the simple naivety of a child take plainly from the Aramaic Psalm 119:89 "The Word of God is settled in heaven all the time." In grown-up speak, to use a metaphor, it is like the spirit of a dove. The dove carries with

Word Portraits

We are all essentially anonymous on this board, and only reveal more of ourselves to those we want to befriend, and to whom we wish to know more about us. Few are willing to even share a photo of themselves on their profile page. Yet, we actually reveal ourselves graphically to everyone here, in a way we don't often think about: in the manner and tone of our posts. We actually paint a "portrait" of ourselves that others can see--with the words we use, and the spirit that is conveyed by them. Jesus said that from the abundance of the heart, the mouth speaks. In our age of technology, I think we can rightly append to that wise observation: the words that we type into

Sufferings and Siftings

Sufferings and Siftings

Last spring a group of ladies and I went through Beth Moore’s When Godly People Do Ungodly Things. I found my notes to myself this afternoon and reviewed what all we learned and was refreshed all over again. I would encourage any Christian - seasoned or not - to read the book.

We all had a little bit of a break down and a breakthrough in the study. Early on, we focused on God’s permissive will and why He allows what He allows. We also concentrated on the sufferings of Job and the sifting of Peter.

We looked

Sons of God

It has often been stated by many in the Church that we are sons and daughters of God. That we have been adopted by God and we are the Children of God. Though this was easy to accept, it was the understanding of what it meant that seemed to lack in me. But after a recent encounter with a non-Christian claiming that we are all children of God, knowing this is not so, I was forced to re-examine what it means to be a child of God.

The question “What does it mean to be a child of God?” echoed in my heart for quite some time. Over a period of several years of studying many different topics with a women's Bible study group, verses began to pop out. Verses like Philippians 2:15, where we are called to be the sons of God, harmless and blameless; or Ephesians

Was Solomon right, that there is nothing new under the sun?

King Solomon--arguably the wisest man who ever lived (outside of Jesus), made many profound observations about God, man, the world, and life in general. One of his more well-known statements includes these words:
History merely repeats itself. It has all been done before. Nothing under the sun is truly new. Sometimes people say, “Here is something new!” But actually it is old; nothing is ever truly new. We don’t remember what happened in the past, and in future generations, no one will remember what we are doing now." (Ecclesiastes 1:3-8 NLT)

In the modern era in which we live, we are surrounded by technological marvels that once seemed impossible. A mere four or five generations
