My wife and I were recently visiting good friends of ours in the church. While we are heavily involved in the church - I am the Worship Coordinator, my wife is heading up the Children's Ministry, and we lead one of the small groups, they currently operate on the fringes of the church. They have a lot of issues with the leadership, the way things are done, how finances are handled, and how they feel they are being treated. My wife and I both have the distinct impression that they have a lack of trust in our leadership and see themselves as victims, which heavily influences their perception of how they are being treated.

In any case, the conversation we had with our friends sparked a question in me: do you trust your pastor? What would it take for you to trust your pastor? Is it Biblically even necessary or required to trust your pastor? I'd be very interested to hear your thoughts but let me give one caution:

Please do NOT turn this into a church or pastor-bashing session. Thanks!

Below are examples of how other nations have done evil:

Waar ons hart begin vinnig klop as dit lyk of pappa of mamma dalk ons 'n drukkie mag gee.

Father,

Today is a day of remaining steadfast in your shadow, I praise you Father and all the glory is only
yours.

Father, today I lift up a prayer to you in answer to a request I have received from a friend. Father,
my friend's twin brother is presently serving in Iraq and I pray for your protection be upon him. I
pray Father that you comfort them both in knowing that you are in control. I pray for courage upon
them in the face of all adversity that he face and in the boldness that only you can give, that he have
victory over all adversity.

In your Word we read that when we make you our refuge, that no evil shall befall us and that you will
charge your angels to bear us up. I pray this over both my friend and his brother as they both serve in
the military at this present time.

Father, it brings me joy to converse with you, I pray that they both find joy in any of their moments of
prayer with you, our Almighty Father.

I pray this, in Jesus Christ's name, AMEN!

Groete
Phil

NS! Ek vestaan BAIE goed die reël wat sê ek mag nie skakels plaas na ander forums toe nie, maar a.s.b. mods, ek vra of julle a.s.b. die meriete hiervan sal oorweeg a.g.v. die storie daaragter.

New Testament idioms
compiled by Wayne Leman
(This webpage may be copied or its contents adapted if its title and compiler are cited.) An idiom is an expression in a language which has a unique meaning which cannot be understood from the meanings of its parts (some English idioms are "It's raining cats and dogs", "Are you pulling my leg?" and "He flew off the handle"). Many NT Greek idioms are literal translations of Hebrew idioms. The boundary between idioms and other figures of speech is not always clearcut in the literature on NT Greek. In many cases, what are called idioms should, technically, often be analyzed as other figures of speech, such as metonymy, euphemism, etc. Perhaps this is to be expected, since idioms often derive from dead metaphors. Compare the New Testament figures of speech page.
(Resources used to help make this collection included the Greek lexicon by Barclay Newman which accompanies the UBS Greek New Testament. A number of the idioms here were first pointed to me by an e-mail friend, Brent Hudson, who searched the L&N lexicon for NT Greek idioms. Abbreviation L&N = Greek-English Lexicon of the New Testament Based on Semantic Domains, by Louw & Nida)

I'm a recovering drug addict. I've been clean for 9 years via Narcotics Anonymous. It's a great program and has worked well for me. But recently I've come under temptation again. I've been having thoughts of drinking for probably a month or so. I believe the temptation is linked to anxiety I feel about recently dealing with religious ideas standing between me and God (I spent 30 years in a works-based, fear-based cult that really screwed my concept of God). Since facing this issue of religion/doctrine/bible/God a few weeks ago I've started having constant headaches that last several days on end. I finally went to the doctor on Monday, who prescribed a narcotic pain reliever. Ordinarily I avoid anything narcotic so as not to set off my addiction again. But tylenol was not working and I cannot take nsaids. So far I have not abused this medication, have only taken it twice in fact, but my addict mind is thinking about it a lot, fantasizing about taking more than the prescribed dose, which would be disastrous to my life. Taking narcotics will always be dangerous for me because I truly am an addict. The addict thinking switches on even though I am taking the medication in the right dose for the right reason. I'm feeling scared about these thoughts of abusing the medication. I don't want to ever go back to the pits of active addiction. I suppose I'm looking for support and prayers.

Is this anger stage I am having * normal* ? I'm not angry at God for mom's death; I was blessed to have her as long as I did. I get angry with people esp if they are rude.. Last week on a trolley at the beach some guy and woman cut in front of me and I wanted to kick him. :oI actually lifted my foot and thought about it. :o This is NOT me....My mouth has not been 'nice' at times either about folks that I feel not to friendly to with things they do..Honestly not a foul word has come out of my mouth for a long time ( before this 'season' and I'm always nice, really I am, even when I don't feel like it..

I apologize for not being on here and supportive but have not been me...besides feeling better physically and am trying to play catch up and get ahead before fall returns...

Thanks
