Our son now in his 40's. And having a great wife and 8 children.

Was a drummer !

And at the time was not saved...........
but did get saved in time.............

He had started out in grade school, and wound award after award.

Got into a band. drooped out ! Got into another band, dropped out.

This went on and on, even started his own band.
And not just because he is my son , I am saying that he was so good, every one wanted him in all the bands he was in.

He gave it all up ! Sold the drums and never played them again.

It took a while but he finally told me the whole story!

They all use dope.......... " ? wonder why " ?

We are so blessed he did not !

But as he was talking to us and trying to explain what was wrong with it also.
is the beat, and at that point he started to tap at his hip with his hand, and then we could really understand.
You get caught up in the beat of the music. And it does not take long, for other things to get going.......
I hope I explained his to be understood ?
if not I will try to explain more if you ask ?

I am happy in one way on this and sad in another way.

In 12 years of living with the challenges, and blessings, of a child diagnosed with autism, and working with other ASD children and their families in support groups, I have come to one conclusion .... there is NO WAY you can handle it without THE WAY as your Guide and Comforter.

Now I'm taking on an idea to put together a scripture resource booklet for the special parents and other people working with these special children.

Bible quotes such as "the peace that surpasses all understanding" has been what held me together many times when things seem chaotic .....
the fighting through fits and meltdowns keeping your eyes on the Goal ....
trusting everything works together for good when everything is a mess...
not to let anger allow you to sin and never going to bed angry .....
The value of on the spot and 70x70 over forgiveness when people judge in ignorance..
Even trusting the Spirit when "normal" communication just is not happening ..

I truly believe that God sends His WORD and healing comes ...... from the smallest irritations to the biggest crisis, He is true to His Word

Now I would like to ask your help in this project. Please can you give examples of scripture that helped you cope or brought breakthrough or gave you the strength to go on when all seemed lost ..... specific to the challenges of autism.

Mom and dad didn't fight much. We ate as a family. Played as brothers. I even went to church every Sunday. Times have changed however, but I miss the old ways. I miss believing families were only husband, wife, and kids. I miss good kids and nice people. I miss knowing all my friends with happily married families.

And, if anyone is familiar with these types of books, I'm trying to remember a certain series. It was historical and interesting; I think it may have been historical with added characters. Not necessarily Christian, though I think it had some books of Christian people. Each book was small, thick, and had relatively large text, so that you felt like you'd accomplished a big task when reading. There were a lot of them.
