Someone referred me to this movie, I've watched some of it, and it brings up some points that are scary for me to take in personally, so I haven't watched all of it yet.

However, I was wondering if anyone here had seen it and could break down some of the things talked about in it.

It runs about 45 minutes long on the subject of Christianity, so I don't expect any responses, but it would mean a lot to me if anyone did have input on it.

Essentially, it is saying that Christianity is a parody on the worships of the sun, and points out the similarities that it has to older religions.

I have not seen the movie, but the claim that Christianity "borrowed" its beliefs from "older religions" is an old idea and untrue. This argument is made by people who don't understand the Bible, which tells us that Gods plan of salvation was decided "before the foundation of the world" (2 Pe.1:20). Therefore, no other religion predates Christian beliefs.

Ultimately, you are just going to have to determine if you think a "Zeitgeist" movie is a reliable source or not and worthy of your contemplation. In computer programming, there is a saying that goes: Garbage in, garbage out. This means that any kinds of actions a computer program bases on bad data or other faulty processes results in more bad data or faulty processes. It is processed and can take considerable time but it doesn't mean anything.

I watched the first few minutes of the "movie" a couple of weeks ago thinking to answer questions like yours and decided to turn off the input of garbage about 15-20 minutes in. You can see this kind of stuff about the World Trade Center, JFK's assination, the moon landing, the Mars pictures, aliens at Roswell, on and on and on. Setting aside for the moment the fact that the movie didn't capture my interest or entertain me, I just found that it wasn't worthy of my time. Nevertheless, it seems many people develop faith more easily in conspiracy than anything else. It seems that sometimes we let ourselves decide that no belief can be proper in light of all of the conflicting data "out there".

The revoving bases for all of this regarding Christianity is that Paul "invented" Christianity. Or that Jesus was some kind of puppit from Alexandria (Egypt). Or that Constantine invented it. Or on and on of any one of such "believable" conspiracies to "control the people".

I've seen some pretty good responses in other places about the movie (you can also check the links in the "Similar Threads" section at the bottom of this discussion) but I really don't think too much thoughtful consideration should be given to just any and all objections to Christianity, and that is what the movie seems to be. From my short view of the movie, the movie doesn't pretend to offer a balanced view but rather works from an assumption from the beginning.

Anyway, my opinion is: Garbage in, garbage out. As the song we teach our children goes: Oh, be careful little eyes watch you see, Oh, be careful little ears what you hear. Gargage in, gargabe out.

I'm just at a stage in my personal spirituality where it's very volatile. I'm looking for answers all over the place and it's hard to see which sources are the best. I like to get a view from both sides of the spectrum.

While I realize that the video mainly seems to be in the same light as most conspiracy theories, it did bring up some points that I wasn't aware of. That's why I like to have this outlet here to bring things like these up.

Anyways, I'm going to continue searching. This particular video just happened to put some questions into my mind, and questioning things can be a very scary process when you're looking for answers to these particular questions.

When I first started watching the movie what struck me was the way it is presented. The producers are using powerful propaganda techniques that shamelessly manipulate the viewer. The music is hypnotic, the imagery is both hypnotic and also intended to elicit the most powerful human emotions, and this goes on for a very long time! This is designed to condition your mind to be receptive to the message they deliver. Then they start in with this blasphemous mockery of God... and it goes on, I didn't watch it any further because the beginning was enough to tell what the intent was.

Don't be fooled.

I haven't seen it and have no desire to, however if you can find a good chiristian radio station in your area, they usually have a talk show during the day hours that you can call in with such questions. The host is usually very well versed in all such matters, for such people as yourself.

I happened to be listeing to our only station on fm here in SE michigan today, and he was talking about the people who are non beleivers who set out to find out one way or the other if the evidence of Christ's life, death and resurrection can be found. And those who have done this research with an unbiased mind frame have found that the evidence for Christ is in fact overwhelming.

There was one lawyer who was in the guiness book of world records for having the most success at winning cases for 18 years in a row. He was not a believer but he wanted to see if the evidence could stand up in a court of law, and he found that the evidence for Christ is so overwhelming it's amazing that anybody can choose to ignore it.

Basically that's what I am saying, anybody who has truely looked into this with any desire for truth CANNOT ignore that Jesus Christ truely is the Son of God. You've got to remember during all of this, that what ever comes your way to fight against your faith, is nothing but an attempt from the evil one through people, to destroy your faith. People choose to reject the truth every day, and if you listen to them, you are setting yourself up for a loss of faith. But as long as you investigate as you are doing here, and not just letting people rob you of your faith, then you will do well and you will be strengthened. ;)

I watched the first 1/3 or so of the movie last month. I lost interest once they stressed that Jesus is a copy of Horus. The first places I went to investigate this "fact" were not Christian. They were however, dedicated to responsible study of Egyptology. There are dozens of articles out on the net (many from non-Christian sources) which show the Horus-Jesus connection for what it is: fact stretching and plain old lies. Once I had that cleared up, I thought "well... if they're going to lie and misrepresent that, what else are they trying to pull on me?"

Becuase Jesus died on the cross to pay for our sins. But rather as Christians we must repent.
definition of repent= Turn away from sin. Admitting your sins is wrong. Trying not to sin ( you may accidently sin when you tried not to sin, at least you tried not to sin ). Ask God to forgive you of your sins. definition of sin= what is considered wrong in the Bible.
2. Praying to Mary, Angels and the Saints to pray for us is wrong. This is considered to be a form of worship.

I don't think that the first nation belief and the native american belief is true for the following reasons =
1. If there is a God of the first nations and native american people, then thier God should have a religious book.

Native Indians and First Nations believe that thier myths told them they came from North America, this is wrong becuase there is DNA evidences ( classified as Mongoloids ) that they came from Asia, Native Indian myths should of said that they also migrated to Asia if it were true. BIBLE QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS =
Question= what is the meaning of life?
Answer1= Do not go beyond what is written in the Bible. 1 Corinthians 4:1 - 4:21. Answer2= Just do what the God of the True Christians / Bible wants you to do. Answer3= Matthew 18:7 - Jesus says " woe to the world becuase of the things that cause people to sin ". Answer4= I don't think there is a frequency rate at which a christian should evangelize.
Question= why does God allow bad thing's to happen to good people?
Answer1= Jesus paid for our sins by dying on the cross. Answer2= Forgive for God will Judge a person according to his / her deeds in the afterlife, heaven or hell. Answer3= God works in mysterious ways. Answer4= Do not be afraid about the person who can destroy the body, instead be afraid of the person who can send your soul to hell. Answer5= God gave people freedom to choose to be either good or evil. Answer6= The bible does say that the christians will get persecuted.
Question= is God controlling our destiny?
Answer1= Proverbs 16:1 - Solomon says " to man belongs the plans of the heart ". Answer2= Matthew 18:6 - !8:9 - Jesus says " if your foot causes you to sin then it would of been better for you to cut your foot off then and enter the kingdom of heaven than for you to have your foot and be thrown into the eternal fire of hell ". Answer5= When I was conducting Bible keyword searches I could not find anything from keywords - Author - Fate - Destiny - that God was controlling everybody. Answer6= Even if YHVH ( God's Hebrew name of the Bible ) is the writer and controller of the Bible, God, Satan, Holy Trinity, Unholy Trinity, Heaven and Hell, everythings ( literally every man, woman, animal, star, ect) actions, decisions, thoughts, plans, paths, destinies, ect. as if this is all just one big story book ( Note = This could be possibly true becuase I have heard of the saying " there cannot be a story without a fall " ), I myself personally do not want to risk burning in hell, if all the evidence seems to yield that the Bible is true.

CONCLUSION = The Christian bible and faith is true, with some Christians decieved / misguided, and every other belief is false. As a Christian Apprentice, since 1993 to pesent year, I spent my time watching television shows, movies, playing videogames, boardgames, cardgames, tabletop minature games, reading fantasy books , myths, history, other religions and other beliefs, also I studied evolution, Aethists and muslim point of views, so far there is nothing out there that stands out like the Bible, I could probably spend about 20 000 or more years researching the truth and studying the Bible. With free internet service, free internet web hosting and free internet downloading such as Bibles= http://bibledatabase.com/free_bible_software.htm and Jesus movies= http://www.jesusfilm.org/film-and-media/watch-the-film, the christian faith could stand and grow without the christians getting a single penny! . Even in history this was actually considered possible because of manually written pen and paper ( manuscripts ) bibles. If you have some extra money, then give it to the poor such as " World Vision ". If you think you can find errors in th bible, thn I dare you to try findng any Archeological, Scientific, Prophetic, Internal Contradictional, ect. errors in the bible. If you have spare time then spread this information to your friends, family, Entertainment Websites, Science Websites, Store Websites, Military Websites, Religious Websites and Political Websites. The person reading all of these writings / typing is allowed to reproduce, photocopy, copy, change, etc. all of these writings / typing in order to spread the truth, gospel of Jesus, etc.
