I don't know what you're trying to get at, here. Translated and taken in context, the verse suggests putting Christ at the center of your life if you're going to be a disciple; it means to love other things less, to give them less preference, to favour them less. Context and translation are often more important than you'd realize. After all, consider -- did Christ LITERALLY hate His family? Of course not. Did His ministry come first? Yes.

Anyway, you can look at this as repentance if you want. Love God first, then the correct kind of love for all the others follow. It is the great commandmant and the corollary thereof. Love for the world first will never bring forth love for God.
