I am reading Hebrews, and, I am wondering if it is all about GOD'S love? I am just on chapter 2, but, I am just been thiunking that it may be about His love for us, and, how He died for our sins. I now it goes further than that, but, I want to know what you all think. Let's really discuss this book, which is my facourite of all the books.

Puting aside which translation you are read Hebrews in (because it's not that important) - does the bible have footnotes? Does it have cross references to relevent passages in other bible books?

You will get so much more out of the text, if you have these.

If this is a little more serious study, and i don't know what kind of study you have done in the past, can i suggest you buy a commentary or book that an expert has written? Yes it will be one person's/ or a few's opinion, but it's a begining.

We live in an age of such wonderful technology and printing. Also scholarship available in so many places and in most cases so cheeply.

The more you learn in your person study of Hebrews - the more you will bless others on this topic, site and people you meet in the future in 'real' life. God bless, SofTy. :saint:

I do not have any of those things that you are talking about. I do have the KJV where it gives verses from other books, so, I can understand it better. So, I will stick to that for right now. I will take noites, and, come back, and, help others try to understand the bnook. I really hope to get a lot out of this study. I am just trying to do a study on His love, and, faith.

I just finished going through Hebrews (again) last year. The author was dealing with a group of Jewish converts to Christianity who had been Believers for some years but had never grown. There is some indication that sin was a culprit, as was a stubbornness for not following what they had heard. Despite these problems and the fact that the author gave 5 stern warnings through the book, he never questioned their Salvation.

Perhaps the Love you are seeing from the book is the author's great concern over them. He was sincerely concerned that they were considering a reversion back to Judaism. The author knew that spiritually this was impossible, but he also knew that a return to the Judaic mindset would make them miserable because it would put them in direct opposition to the Spirit within them, trying to live by the flesh rather than His Leading.

The problem of these Hebrews is summarized by his question, "how can we neglect so great a Salvation?" (Heb 2:3). That is what this group was doing. They had the Power within them to learn and mature, but were not following it. They were neglecting it. In offering arguments against their reversion back to Judaism, the author at the same time formed the greatest primer on Christology in the entire NT. There is much to thank the author (and God) for what is in this great book! :)

I love Hebrews because it exhorts us to mature as Christians (chpt 5 & 6).

I've got to go to bed now - 11pm UK time. But i wanted to read chapter 1 of Hebrews first to get a feel for your topic.

I loved the quotes from 3 different Psalms (P2:7, P104:4, & P45:6,7). Who needs a commentary when we have Paul the apostle to explain the meaning!

What i saw in chapter 1 mainly was the correct position of Jesus Christ above the angels. The little piece at the begining verses 1-4 how the Son is the fullfilment of what the prophets said.

God bless, SofTy. :saint:

I absolutely LOVE the Book of Hebrews. Hebrews and the Gospels are my favorite.

To the OP'er, I use KJV Scofield study Bible. (I'm about to change as I have been using Scofield for so long)

But you can download Scofield's study notes and download study tools such as Strong's concordance here: (moderator a link to a free Bible Study resource which is supurb! )

Hebrews is a book of contrasts. It contrasts the old covenant vs. the new. I shows the superiority of the new covenant, sealed by the Blood of the Lamb.

It presents Jesus as our Great High Priest, how He understands and sympathesizes with us, intercedes for us, how He entered into the Holy of Holies with His own blood and sat down on the right hand of the Father, our salvation being complete.

It shows us how to enter into spiritual rest (vs. striving in our own works).

It shows us the way of faith and the superiority of the faith walk. It shows us the heroes and heroines of the faith, some listed with their identifying sins such as Rahab the Harlot. (this should give anyone hope!)

I could go on and on!!!!

This is one great book closing with the most incredible apostolic blessing that a whole Bible could be written on:

Now the God of peace, that brought again from the dead our Lord Jesus, that great shepherd of the sheep, through the blood of the everlasting covenant,
Make you perfect in every good work to do his will, working in you that which is wellpleasing in his sight, through Jesus Christ; to whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen.
Hebrews 13: 20-21

Praise our blessed God! It is an everlasting covenant!!!
