Samuel 30:6) And Dave was greatly distressed; for the people spake of stoning him, because the soul of all the people was grieved, every man for his sons and for his daughters: but David encouraged himself in the Lord his God

How can it apply David’s situation to us as Christians following Christ? Aren’t we suppose to trust in the Lord at all times? Trough good and bad times? It is not saying much if you only stand with Christ through the good times or when it is convenient for you. It is how your faith hold’s up in the bad times that demonstrates your faith. “But he that endureth until the end, the same shall be saved”.
How does the word of God help us endure? Psalm 119:92) Unless thy Law had been my delights, I should then have perished in mine affliction.)) We can always seek comfort in the word of God and his promises. The armor of righteous depends on being knowledgeable on God’s word. Weather it be the breastplate of righteousness which is holy character, the buckle of truth(assurance of authenticity), the helmet of salvation (assurance of promise), or the sword of the Spirit (memorized verses), they all require study in the word of God and prayer time. “Let no man deceive you”, reading the bible and memorizing verses takes time daily, effort, and you don’t talk to your best friend for only 5 minutes, this same principle applies to God when you pray. Make sure you foundation isn’t on sand.
People say there are many ways to do it, but this is the problem, when people get caught in their own way and not God’s way, following the commandments of man, not minding the things of God. Where is your affection, toward God or toward earthly things, the eternal or the temporal? You have to deny yourself and focus on spiritual. Enjoying earthly pleasures are a snare of the temporal, a hindrance on the soul, and a part of the broad way “Broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat”. The key word is many. Many don’t make it, Few do. This point is illustrated many times in the bible. Luke 4:26) But many lepers were in Israel in the time of Eliseus the prophet; and none of them were cleansed, saving Naaman the Syrian.)) Only one out of …..! Now in today’s corrupt, polluted, unclean, immoral, idol filled world consider this, “one man among a thousand have I found”. Push for the truth because the days are evil. Seek the Lord daily Matthew 7:14) Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth to life, and few there be that find it))
