Ps 1:1-4
How blessed is the man who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked,
Nor stand in the path of sinners,
Nor sit in the seat of scoffers!
2 But his delight is in the law of the Lord,
And in His law he meditates day and night.
3 And he will be like a tree firmly planted by streams of water,
Which yields its fruit in its season,
And its leaf does not wither;
And in whatever he does, he prospers.
4 The wicked are not so,
But they are like chaff which the wind drives away.
NASB
I love thinking of this verse in two ways.
1. The Holy Spirit is sometimes referred to as the wind in scripture. John 3 says those that are led by the Spirit are like the wind. When Spirit filled believers move in the Spirit, often many folks will be driven away. Jesus attracted many people to himself through his love. But eventually, he would speak and they would leave.
2. We also see how the storms of life can be full of wind. Peter, upon seeing the wind, sunk. Wind also can be from the enemy and from life. When it blows our way, the chaff in us can be exposed. Though we may sink, like Peter, we can be saved and lifted again to walk. In this way, the chaff is driven away by the storms of life.
