I watched a great movie today...World Trade Center. It came out a couple of years ago, but for some reason, I'd been avoiding watching it until now. It's a fitting time to watch it, since we are a day away from the 7th anniversary of the tragedies of that day.
When I started watching the film, I didn't really know what to expect, but it was indeed very very moving. Some things really brought tears to my eyes, just from remembering things seen that day...the people jumping out of the buildings, the firefighters and police officers rushing in to help rescue those trapped inside, and the wives and families waiting to hear news of their loved ones. It also painted pictures of things that I had never really thought about. For instance, the scene of the building collapsing...for some reason it never occured to me that there were people in sight of the two Officers that survived the collapse. They just disappeared. For a lot of us, 7 yrs and 2 wars later, it's easy to get numb to what really happened, to be tempted to forget. This film is a monument to all those who lost their lives and to the heroic men and women who risked everything to help others. It should be required for every American to watch this movie.
9/11 Let us never forget.
