Own galoshes?

Do you own a pair of Galoshes? Why do they call it that funny word that.
Do you call them galoshes in real life?
Whats the diffents from galoshes and boots?

I used to wear them when I was a kid because I loved to jump in puddles of water after the rain.

I dont, it hardly rains here, definitely not enough to warrant wearing them.
