The last while, I've been in a funk. I've been feeling quiet, numb almost, spiritually dry yet again... I've been feeling like when I pray, I'm not heard, so I've just been praying because I know I should.
And then tonight I heard something I needed to, REALLY needed to. I went to an event called CITC, or "church in the caf". The student Christian group here puts it on once a month... and tonight they were talking about where our focus needs to be. The speaker tonight was saying that it's so easy to let earthly things distract us away from Christ.... family, friends, troubles, events... but Christ is who we need to focus on. And then he said something that really got my attention.
He said "if there's someone here tonight who's just been coasting along, feeling burnt out, wondering what gives, trying not to give up.... LISTEN UP. God loves you, God does NOT want you to trade the eternal for the temporary. He doesn't want you to trade His peace for ANYTHING the world gives. If you need to turn around, then turn around and run STRAIGHT to Him, because He created you for Himself! Troubles? Nothing God can't help you right through. Burnt out? Nothing God can't renew. In sorrow? Nothing God can't lift up and make whole. Turn to Him."
.... I really, really needed that reminder. So tonight I'm thanking God for speaking through someone. I am sure that speaker blessed others as he blessed me with his message, but that message came from God. So I'm trying to hang onto God, turning to Him the way I should.... because I need Christ. I need that renewal.
