I've been a Christian for 6 months - and I'm having to adjust in so many ways.

One of the biggest things is letting go of a rebellious nature and troubled past. I've chosen a career path that will help me in this.

Anyone else suffer with this?

David.

Yes. All of us. ;)

Yeah, I guess!

Recent big changes in my life have astounded my friends, family and neighbors. It's time for me to let go of a lot of things and do new ones.

Absolutely. Each of us have our own strongholds that we struggle with to some degree.

What career path have you chosen?

A controversial choice, some may think.

I have joined the US Army.

I have joined the US Army.

David, I retired from the US Army after 21 years in the Infantry. God molded me during that service to Him and my country and now I serve Him in a capacity to minister to soldiers. I could not do this without that military experience.

Let God be in control! Do not let others deter you from God's will for you.

Thanks.

I wondered if it might have been a contentious subject on this board!

Thanks.

I wondered if it might have been a contentious subject on this board!I'll be honest with you, it can be but as I said... don't let the opinion of others get between you and what God has planned for you. His plan may have been different for them and what they don't agree with, God's Will trumps their opinion. God has used men of war all through the Bible, both OT and NT... why stop?

Just be obedient to God and as I have in the 3rd line of my signature, I would not have had those blessings if I was not obedient to God who wanted me to be a soldier so He could give to me the ministery He had for me before I was even born.

I think that's exactly right, sir.

Don't let others' opinions disuade you.

Nothing particularly contentious about it here at bibleforums, that I know of.

But while it may be good for you to choose a career where discipline and respect are required of you, you need to be careful that you are taking initiative to put your life in order, yourself. The army can be a support to your efforts to walk a straight path in some ways; in other ways, just like any situation in life, it will offer temptations. So you need to be sure to be vigilant and faithful, God helping you!

And you need to be sure that your primary trust and hope is not in your army career, nor in your own efforts, but in God and His grace to us sinners in Jesus Christ!

Blessings on you!

I didn't want to be too candid, at first, about my career, how long I'd been in or whatever. It's done me a lot of good.

I look kind of different now!I'll have to wait till I get back to my hotel room to see it. I'm TDY (I still work for the Army as a DOD employee) and I'm at work right now and the server locks all graphics. All I see is a placemark with an X in it

Lone Wolf,

Thank you for joining the army and for your willingness to serve this country. I pray that the Lord will be with you where you go, and that He will give you opportunities to witness to others by your words and actions. And may the Lord protect and guard your heart and mind as well as your body as you finish your service to this country.

In a couple of days my wife and I are flying out to Fort Jackson, SC, for our daughter's boot camp graduation. It was a radical change from the life she was used to. I respect and appreciate all those who serve in our armed forces. May God bless you in your service. May he use the training and experiences to draw you ever closer to Him and may He cause you to bear much fruit.

Congratulations on your daughter's graduation from boot camp. I'm sure you are very proud of her and pray the same prayer for her as for Lone Wolf above.
