View Full Version : I Was Amazed

I haven't been here in awhile, but I wanted to drop by with a praise report. Recently I have really been feeling the need to get back into church and get my kids involved. My son is 4 and is beginning to understand a lot more about the world, and I just wanted a positive place for him to go to learn about Jesus, and frankly I didn't feel confident enough to try to explain it to his little mind without overwhelming him so I needed some help. When discussing it with my husband, who has never shown any interest in religious things other than History channel type shows on the Bible and whatnot, he sort of set up a "rule" where his attendance was concerned...he said that as long as he had both days off on the weekend he would go with us, but if it was his only day off then he didn't want to have to go anywhere or do anything. I just agreed, doubting that he would even come if he did have both days off.

Well the first Sunday he had both days off I sort of guilted him into going by reminding him of our agreement...you could tell he didn't want to, but on the way home he talked like he really enjoyed it. The next weekend he worked on Saturday so on Sunday morning I just got up and made breakfast and got the kids bathed. I asked him to watch them while I showered and got ready, and then I started getting my kids ready...never once did I mention him going with me, because that was our agreement. As I was getting my son's shoes on I suddenly heard...

Here comes the "I was amazed" part...wait for it...wait for it...

my husband's boots coming down the hall. He was all spiffed up and ready to go, without me saying a word! I was in shock! I thanked him and told him that was such a pleasant surprise and he had really made my day. Not only did we have a great time, but he even mentioned afterward wanting to help the men's group with the fall festival!

I know this doesn't sound like much, but if you knew my husband and the things we have gone through...trust me, this is huge! I am just praying for his continued involvement in our church lives because I think it's really important for our kids to see both of us going...

Anyway...for me this is such a huge blessing, and something I have been praying for...and I am just so thankful that the Lord is working on my husband's heart!! :spin:

christy, this is a big thing to me also..it took some time for my husband to come around to being interested in our new church since we moved here two years ago. But he is doing it gradually and even bought a new pair of shoes to wear to services..his Sunday shoes. ;) And he agreed to go with me to the intercessory prayer meeting a few months ago and make visits to the sick and elderly with our prayer team. :)

Anyway, knowing how it is I praise God with you! Thanks for sharing this praise report! :pp

Praising the Lord right along side you, my sister. God is so amazingly good, isn't He? He continues to amaze and astonish us with His faithfulness and love.

Yours in Him,

Benjamin

Very encouraging!! I'm sort of going through the same thing with my wife. She grew up in a Catholic atmosphere and I grew up in a Church of Christ. We have two young children and we both agree that God must be a part of their , and ours as a familys life. We both were raised under different doctrines and they are special to both of us. She is a little hesitant about switching churches, but its something were working on. I know God will lead us to the right place. Wonderful to hear that the Lord has brought you and your family to him together. Love that Lord of ours!!!:spin: God bless you , and your family. May the Lord keep you all close to him and each other.
