"Riddle for October"

My old daddy walked with God, and that's the way my grandson trod, in the Bible much is written about my family tree.
It's said that God, my daddy he did please, while my grandson the world did mock and tease, but not much is written about my son and me.

My daddy was known for the way he walked, and my grandson for the way he was mocked, while I was known for my longevity.
My daddy escaped the hand of the reaper, and my grandson he was quite a preacher, but again not much is said about my son and me.

Now neighbor as you take a good long look, back through the pages of this blessed old Book, my old daddy here, just who was he?
And my grandson, who preached so long ago, along with me who all should know, and my son also, tell me who we all might be?
