Help!!

No really, I have not installed any software yet, like for camera to load photos in, scanner, Corel....MY E-SWORD.

Do I just stick the disk in and close my eyes?

I know the temptation to close your eyes is strong... but you'd better not. If you do, you'll never get anything installed. Vista will pop up ten million "YOU NEED TO AUTHORIZE THIS" messages, and you'll have to "click here to continue" each time.

Best of luck with the beast.

Oh, thats encouraging cat.

The neat thing I have noticed so far is that, all the pages I have opened here, which is usually two or three at least, instead of just saying Bibleforum, it has the forum, like ETC or Intro or whichever forum that page is on. To good. I used to stay lost in here on the wrong page.

Oh wow!! it even tells me the name of the thread I'm in, thats just too good!!!

Yeah, yeah, Vista IS alright. ;) Takes a little getting used to, but there are some cool things. I really like the Window Switch feature. Check it out. Down by your start menu, you have two boxes. One says "show desktop" and the other says "switch windows". I find that pretty fun. :D

I am in the old tech yet :]

With Xp, I guess because some soft at first were not compatibles with vista, hope you to not have any troubles with it dove.

Be good

Well, I got brave enough to get the e-sword in, it looks different, I am not sure if it is quite right or not, but it is working and I got all my notes and highlights working so I reckon I will get used to it looking different.

One thing I am not happy about is I cannot personalize my color schemes as much, there is like three choices. Thats kinda a bummer. Its like Vista, Vista, or Vista.

Right clicking an empty area on your Vista screen will bring up a menu with 'personalize' on the bottom of the list. Then if you choose 'Window color and appearance,' you will find color and intensity options and a color mixer.

Unless I'm thinking of something else. (there should be a further option at the bottom of the color and appearance menu which gives even more color optons [classic]).

You know I have eyes in the back of my head and can hear for miles and miles away right?

I am moving around faster, my old computer had 512MB Ram, the loaner I was on had 256MBs and now I am 3Gs. I know there is other digiwatts factors but to my simple computer level, it's moving much better now.

I finally found the color mixer a minute ago. :pp I will go back later and hunt the rest.

I do have a stupid question for you guys. How do you make a shortcut for your desk top of stuff listed on the Start menu. I used to just right click and then click shortcut or something, now I do not see anything to click.

:) You pull up your Start menu, right-click on the item you're interested in, scroll down to "send to" and click "desktop (create shortcut)"..... voila! Was that what you needed?

First you go to Start>All Programs. Right clicking any item on the all programs list will give you a "Pin to the Start Menu" option.

Right-clicking any item in "all Programs" will give you a "send to" option, which includes "Desktop."

You will also find a "Add to quick launch" option.

Just like XP, only purtier.:)

I think I can handle that, thanks guys. When I send it to desk top it creats the short cut and still leaves it in the list of programs then, right?

Before I start clicking I need to ask these simpleton questions, because yes, I can get into trouble easily. I am definitetly not a brave clicker. :bounce: And bear in mind, I'm left handed, which probably explains a lot.

:) Yup, it still leaves it in the list of programs, and gives you a desktop shortcut.

(I'm a lefty, too!)

I sure appreciate all the help guys. I need encouragement being the coward that I am. Trying to muster up the courage to begin installing software.

Like I said, I did get my e-sword in, that worried me cause of all my topic and study notes, highligted stuff and all. But it's all there. :pp

My next challenge will probably be FrontPage. Hoping microsoft doesn't give me a hard time since it was installed in my old computer and all that registration to get it to work business. Hopefully I will not be on the news tonight.
