Hi.
I have a bible question about GOD. (I am not affiliated with any religous groups right now but am searching for something). I heard people saying that God is really nice and that God loves everyone... but they also say that for those who don't go to church God will send them to hell. I'm confused here... I'm having a hard time understanding why a loving God would send a person to hell simply because they didn't attend church every sunday.

The Lord would never send someone to hell because they never went to what americans call church on sunday.

Through our life we make a choice whether to choose the Lord or not too, the devil does his best to give you as much temptation as possible to guide you away from the Lord, and thats what hell is. You get what you've worked for your whole life, hell is the absence of Jehovah(God).

Now as for "going to church on sundays" technically the sabbath day is saturday and the church is not a building it is a group of believers. Thats why Yeshua(Jesus) said the temple would be destroyed and a new temple would come in his resurrection, that is the body.

What day you have service, if you go, these things arnt important. What is important is that we realize that we are weak and broken and need a savior.

The Lord be with you

Exactly. It isn't that God is sending people to hell, it is that people are choosing to go to hell.
Jesus died and rose for everyone, but most will reject His gift of salvation.

Nobody will go to hell because they don't attend church services. Likewise, nobody will go to heaven because they attend church services (on whichever day of the week).

The only way anybody can go to heaven is by faith in Jesus Christ, the the risen Son of God. By accepting Jesus as your personal Savior, and making Him Lord of your life, you will become reborn spiritually. Once you are a new creation in Christ, the Holy Spirit will teach you and guide you and He will put a desire in you to learn more about God. You will also have a desire to be in communion with other children of God. Attending church services will become a great joy.

It's nothing to do with going to church or not, it's everything to do with accepting Jesus as our personal Saviour.

Let me put your question another way. God loves us enough to give us a free choice. We can choose eternity with God, or eternity away from God. If we choose to spend eternity away from God why would he force us to spend eternity with him?

Yes, God is really nice and yes He does Love EVERYONE - both the saved and the lost. I don't recall the scripture but Jesus is depicted as the Loving shepard who will search for a single lost sheep.

Going to church on Sunday has become a bit legalistic. I miss service because of work or I'm out of town.:hmm: Church is more about getting together with others, worship, prayer and teaching. The scripture says "one will put 1000 to flight, two will put 10,000 to flight (speaking of the devil and his angels)". I don't know about you but those are great odds.

God has made it clear through His Word that all of us are on the narrow or the wide path. MANY have chosen the wide path but FEW have found the narrow path. I pray you will find this path.

Hey Vesper!
You came to the right place to ask questions! ;)

Will someone be sent to Hell for not attending church? NO.
A perfect example to suppoprt this is, to look at the thief on the cross with Jesus. He believed Jesus was indeed the Messiah, and asked to be remembered. Jesus replied, "Today you will be with me in Paradise".
The thief obviously wasn't in church every sunday.

Also keep in mind, ALL religions are different. ALL have different views & beliefs, & they ALL contradict other religions. That's why there can only be ONE TRUE "religion". But keep in mind, Christianity is more than JUST a religion. It's a RELATIONSHIP.

Christianity is distinctly unique, because of the Nature God. (The God of the Bible)
With Christianity, GOD HIMSELF came to US! He reached out to us, so that we might know him personally! There is no mystical, special training or practice required to "acheive a higher level to find God".

No other religion can say this. ;)

Yes, God loves everyone. That's why he will allow you to choose your own course in life. (If he FORCED you to follow him, that wouldn't be love.)

How do people "get to Hell"?
Hell is a place of eternal separation from God's love & grace. It's a place for people who reject God through their own free will. If they want separation from God DURING their lives, then God will continue to honor their choice after their lives, for eternity.

Hell is not a place of torture as some might think.... but rather, a place of TORMENT. Tormented because they will realize how much they're missing, being eternally separated from God. Complete & total isolation, forever. Knowing they "COULD HAVE" been with him, but decided they wanted nothing to do with him.

Anyway, hope this helps answer your questions.

:o)

Hi Vesper, This is a favorite question, but a very difficult one for non-believers.
It has to do with the fall of Man through Adam and the Lord providing a salvation for man through Jesus Christ. Think about God as a completely Holy, Righteous being, that anything unrighteous that comes into contact with, would immediately be obliterated. Because God is completely wholly, he cannot coexist with things are not pure. We are made pure through Jesus Chirst, who God sent to show us how to live as close to sin free as we are capable and it is our belief in him that brings salvation.
Now, the Word of God, is God's instruction book for people and it is also the history of mankind.
The important thing to know here is that God desires a relationship with people. He reveals himself through a General Revelation and a Special Revelation.
The important thing to get here is that if mankind ignores the Revelation they cannot coexist with God, because he is righteous, pure and just.

Getting everlasting life, has nothing to do with Chursh per se. It has everything to do with belief in Jesus and acting on that belief in Jesus.
If you are searching it is because God is calling.
I pray that the Lord reveals himself to you and you find what you are looking for.

Lots of answers!
Woot!
Good job everyone! =P

Since I wanna feel important to...

Catholic is not to be mixed up with Christianity =P Quite different religions, really. Catholics believe your deeds are weighed, and if your good out-way bad then your in heaven.. If they don't then you go to hell. (I'm pretty sure? I've never delved in deep into the doctrine...)

Christians are much different, they believe... that if you believe Jesus came down to earth to die for our sins and follow the Word of God to the best of your ability, you'll go to heaven. With that said, sinning does not make you go to hell.. Repentance and Forgiveness are a big factor in the Christian faith.

Repent and God Forgives you... God's awesome!

Most basic and brief description I've ever done.. =) Their is like 5 other replies, so theirs no point in just repeating everything. (Even though I just did) Hope this helps! =D

Hi Vesper,

Welcome to Bible Forums, enjoy the board.

Well actually the only verse comes to my mind is

And let us consider one another to provoke unto love and to good works: Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching. Hebrews 10:24-25

But remember that the mere act of going to Church regularly doesn`t save anyone but the gospel which is power of God that `s what is mighty to save, through faith in Jesus Christ His Son.

Go well

Jesus' Words says it best (John 14:6), "I am the way, the truth, and the life, no man cometh to the Father, but by me."

Since you may not have a Bible, I'll include this for you to read:

Romans 10:9-13:
9because, if(A (http://bibleresources.bible.com/passagesearchresults.php?passage1=romans+10%3A9-13&version1=47#cen-ESV-28182A)) you confess(say)with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and(B (http://bibleresources.bible.com/passagesearchresults.php?passage1=romans+10%3A9-13&version1=47#cen-ESV-28182B)) believe in your heart(C (http://bibleresources.bible.com/passagesearchresults.php?passage1=romans+10%3A9-13&version1=47#cen-ESV-28182C)) that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. 10For with the heart one believes and is justified, and with the mouth one confesses and is saved. 11For the Scripture says,(D (http://bibleresources.bible.com/passagesearchresults.php?passage1=romans+10%3A9-13&version1=47#cen-ESV-28184D)) "Everyone who believes in him will not be put to shame." 12(E (http://bibleresources.bible.com/passagesearchresults.php?passage1=romans+10%3A9-13&version1=47#cen-ESV-28185E)) For there is no distinction between Jew and Greek;(F (http://bibleresources.bible.com/passagesearchresults.php?passage1=romans+10%3A9-13&version1=47#cen-ESV-28185F)) for the same Lord is Lord of all,(G (http://bibleresources.bible.com/passagesearchresults.php?passage1=romans+10%3A9-13&version1=47#cen-ESV-28185G)) bestowing his riches on all who call on him. 13For(H (http://bibleresources.bible.com/passagesearchresults.php?passage1=romans+10%3A9-13&version1=47#cen-ESV-28186H)) "everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved."

If you say this and sincerely mean it, Jesus will come into your heart and change your life.

The only way to get to Heaven is by accepting Jesus as your Lord and Savior. Once you do that, HE will show you HIS ways, which are all good!!! Amen.

Church is a place to fellowship with other Christians. Fellow Christians can be of great help to other Christians in their times of need. It is also the house of the Lord where we come together to worship and praise HIS mighty name. Of course, we praise HIM everywhere!!!!!! You can accept Christ while in church or anywhere else. That's how you get saved and you get the promise of eternal life. Amen.

God does not send anyone to hell...they choose that themselves. God lets us make the choice.....Jesus and eternal life, or satan and eternal hell. By the way, just being a good person doesn't get you salvation!!! Salvation is a gift from God!!!! You can't earn it!!!!! But, once you get it, you need to remember who's you are.....Amen....Live your life showing that Christ lives in you!!!! We are God's hands and feet on this earth. We are suppose to represent HIM. Sometimes we don't do such a good job of that, myself included. A lot of people have the wrong information concerning salvation. Amen.

What's your choice going to be??? Dont' wait too long, cause God doesn't promise us tomorrow. You or I may draw our last breath in the next second-----I know that I'm going to Heaven to be with my Father God and Lord Jesus!!!! Where will you choose to live out eternity?? Please make the right choice and I'll see you "THERE!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

I hope this helps.

God bless you.:hug::pray::pp

Vesper - You can never 'do' anything to earn God's favor or a spot in heaven. We can't get to God by our own efforts. If we could, then Jesus would not have had to die, be buried and rose again. We are all hopeless, wretched sinners who need a Savior.

Salvation and entrance into heaven when we die is a gift. When someone gives you a birthday present, did you do anything to earn it? NO! You just accept it. That is how simple it is to have heaven. All you have to do is admit you are a sinner headed to hell, that you can't save yourself, and that you need a Savior. Acknowledge that Christ is that Savior; the second person of the Triune Godhead stepped out of eternity and into time to take on a human body. He walked the earth 33 yrs, purposely went to a cross to die an unspeakable death to pay for the sins of the world (including yours). He was buried, and on the third day, rose again, proving He was, is, and always will be God. He asended into heaven and now sits at the right hand of the Father waiting on you to call on Him to save you.

Romans 10:13 says that whosoever (you can insert your name here) calls upon the name of the Lord SHALL be saved. Not 'might be saved' or 'probably be saved' - SHALL BE SAVED. All you must do is call on Jesus to save you from your sins and take you to heaven when you die. THAT'S IT!

Friend He is right there waiting for you with open arms

waiting on what? Wating for you to obey Him and be saved before it is eternally to late

Being that you said seeking Jesus, that gives me the impression that you believe in Him

May I ask you this

Do you believe that Christ Jesus died for your sins and arose the third day according to the scriptures?

Do You Believe?
