I smoked pot ,cigarettes and drank guiness for years even as a Christian.
I had such a traumatic childhood that I ended up with an addictive personality like both of my parents. ( and my whole family as well)
I am praising God because I have been free from pot and alcohol for almost fours years and I have been free from nicotine for two and half years.
I love being free from them.
Now..if I could just totally overcome my sin nature;)
Congrats!:pp

on with day 3...
I won't keep going on like this everyday.
My point is this: I'm done abusing grace.
I have a new strong love for Jesus.
I never want to walk away again,
and live life the way I want to.
I am commited to daily prayer, and letting The Holy Spirit
change me.
My life is his.
GOD bless friends

Be prepared for satanic retaliation. The enemy does not put much energy into battling us when we are willfully sinning, because we are working for the enemy's purposes. However...
When we repent and turn back to the Lord, that's when the attacks come. Stay strong, and call upon the name of Jesus when you are weak. His name has power and authority to deliver us through times of trouble.
I will pray for you and your recovery.

Hi paradiseinn,
Be encouraged...you can do it. :) Focus on God in prayer and the enemy who you resist will have to flee. Do not be afraid. Put your trust in the God who loves you and wants to give you something really good. I say all of this having been delivered from smoking myself many years ago.
The first part is the easier part. Later it can be tougher. There are some other threads here on this section in which folks have been in the recovery process..you might find it helpful to check them and the replies given to them.
Something which has been helpful to some is to picture yourself a non-smoker. Think of how this will improve your health and even that giving it up means that your house and clothes will smell much better. Smoke residue stays a long time not only in our house but in our bodies..but it will leave your body sooner than your ceilings..:D...You might want to paint them eventually.
I am praying for you to perservere and work with the Lord as He delivers and heals you. :saint:

I went about two weeks with no smoking and no drinking. Now I'm on the 3rd week and I have been a smoker on and off for this week and I have had a few drinks a few times this week(I did'nt get drunk though).
I know I'm allowed to drink as long as I don't get drunk, but I don't want to drink as often as I have during this week(I drank about 3 times this week) I am more worried about the struggle with the cigarettes.
I need some advice please.
thanks,
Brian

I'll say some prayers for you man. Don't come down on yourself too much. Most of us have a lot of bad habits that we're trying to give up. You might want to try taking something medical or something as well. There are a lot of good substitutions that individuals can use nowadays to take away those cravings for whatever substance you are trying to get off of.

Sharing these which I hope help:
"So if you think you are standing firm, be careful that you don't fall!" (1 Cor 10:12a)
"And God is faithful; He will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, He will also provide a way out so that you can stand up under it." (1 Cor 10:13)
From what you say it sounds like you need to decide to quit drinking lest you go back to how it has been.
Am praying for your deliverance from both and the strength and grace for you to keep praying and looking into God's Word on a daily basis.
In Christ,
