Home made costumes is a lot of fun, and me and my kids love to make our own costumes for the Fall costume parties.
We have our neighborhood fall festival coming up and we have our thinking caps on, to come up with a costume. I have seen some great ideas on the web.
I might go as a Static Cling, not sure yet. I got that idea from here www.easy-homemade-costumes.com (http://www.easy-homemade-costumes.com/)
I liked girl's popcorn box costume that was on there, very cute :)
Are you dressing up and what are you dressing up as?
p.s. sorry about the misspelled header, it's unfortunate that I can't edit it :(

Captain Jack Sparrow Mate!
I've thrifted most of it so far, only spending $20. I've yet to find a suitable hat, but that won't be too hard if it comes down to it. I'll admit that I'm being a bit picky with the hat until it comes down to the wire.
God showed me a lot in those films. If you notice, the first movie begins just as the third movie ends. Each of the four main characters are in the exact same unfortunate circumstances. All of that pillaging, plundering and betrayel got them nothing, at the end of the trilogy they're right back where they began!

One year, I did myself up as a "cereal killer". You can get creative here. Personally, I wore a black shirt, black jeans, and taped empty miniature cardboard cereal boxes to myself, as well as plastic knives to myself... and made sure the little cereal boxes were very crumpled and ripped open. It was goofy, but it was fun. :D
Because I'll be on a placement in a high school for hallowe'en this year, I'll be coming in as a black cat. VERY easy to do. Black clothing, headband on your head that you attach ears to, tail you attach to your pants, and lipstick and mascara gives you whiskers/nose. ;)

I wanted Anna to cut the center of a shirt out at her belly and glue a piece of glass in it's place, while she was pregnant. She'd be a "Womb with a view"
I bought a $10 monks robe and got a name tag that said chip. Chip Monk
You can also get one of those white "Tyvek" suits. The kind that you see scientists wear. They're pretty cheap too, about $15-$20 and then buy those green shake and break light bars. Then make them light up and cut them open and pour them in spots all over the suit.

Great ideas!
I saw somewhere a picture of a pirate & parrot costume.
Dad was a pirate and his little son was dressed up as a parrot. Dad was holding his son in his arms by his shoulder. It was adorable! :pp

There's always the old standby....cut a couple of holes in a white sheet and go as a ghost

Last year, my cousin took one of those HUGE brown paper leaf recycling bags.... put it over her head... and cut holes for eyes... taped plastic forks and knives to the bag... and went as a "school lunch".

When we were in elementary school, a friend of mine's mom made a nose costume. It was so great! I haven't seen anything like it since.

In college, a friend of mine wrapped herself with plastic wrap and stuck bumper stickers all over and called herself a windshield.
