Ok so I was looking around the forum and I found a thread talking about downloading music from sites like limewire ect..... ever since this morning I was wondering if I should delete all of it or just keep it but don't download anymore. This is everything I got off of limewire and have on my mp3....
Music
-All Demon Hunter CDs
-All Underoath CDs
-All As I Lay Dying CDs
-Avenged Sevenfold Cds(I don't have to delete this becuase I got it from my Cd.)
Videos
-All Demon hunter Videos
-All As I Lay Dying Videos
-All Underoath videos
-Videos from youtube(Is it a sin to get stuff off of youtube?)
Movies
-300 (I LOVE THIS MOVIE!!!!!)
-Gladiator
So should I delete all and stop downloading or Keep the ones I already downloaded but don't download off of limewire ever again........im not sure what to do!!!!!!!

i deleted most of mine. but not all. i don't dl much anymore. if i can buy it off itunes i usually go with that.
futureshop for movies.
itunes for music.
bittorrent for anything hard to find/lame movies i'd never actually spend money on renting
but this was something i felt convicted hard on. it is stealing, basically, so let's no make excuses. it's not right, by any means.
that's just me.
ps. you better like with blood comes cleansing

Hey man,
That's a hard turn to come to but I'm glad that you're willing to face the reality of it. If I were you (and I'm not) I would delete all of it. I've had to do the same in my own life a few months ago, because I realized that God cares about honest business practices and me being a witness to those around me can start with how I treat the laws of this land and honesty towards the people that make a living off of these things. I hope this helps.
Sincerely,
Levin

Ok I deleted them all.My friend says he goes to Spiralfrog.com to get free mp3s and he says its legal. This is what it says on the site.
How come there's no cost – what's the catch?
SpiralFrog is an ad-supported Web site. We sell ads on our pages to advertisers who want to talk to you. And we give the majority of that advertising revenue to the music publishers and labels who own the music you're downloading.
Most of our song and video downloads take a short, consistent amount of time to complete, during which we encourage you to keep discovering new areas of the Web site. Every page you visit allows us to serve more advertising, thus building the revenues we can pay to the content creators.
We do NOT ask you for a credit card. But we do ask for your time and attention. And, for that, we thank you…
Is there a limit to what I can download?
As of now, we have over 800,000 songs available for you to download. You may download as many of these songs as you like – no limit. We are adding more songs and videos every week, so if you don’t see your favorite band, check back often to see the latest updates.
We also have music videos that you can watch on the site, or download to your computer. Although the videos stream on the site in low resolution (300Kbps), you may download videos in both low and high resolution (1,000Kbps). Please note that, if you select to download the higher resolution videos, it will take a little longer to download as the average file size is four times larger than the average song file.

Nope never heard of them, are they any good?

This seems to be at heart a personal issue.
Personally, I avoid downloading songs written by artists who just started/are struggling to make it.
THAT definitely feels like stealing.
However, I really don't feel bad about downloading songs by artists who are drowning in cash and/or are making a public spectacle of themselves.
Legally speaking, the question I've never heard an answer to is:
If downloading is illegal, and say Limewire is a known downloading software, why isn't it outlawed or monitored?

You sure there's nothing in the Bible about obeying the law? Limewire, by the way, is monitored... As for why it isn't illegal, the same reason Bittorrent applications aren't in themselves illegal - they're actually useful programs if used legally.

Who cares whether is 'feels like stealing', it either is or isnt and you will be held accountable for the consequences.

The thing I hate about this site is that they don't have As I Lay Dying available for download.:(

look at the site's terms and conditions to see whether content has been authorised for download.
I use cheap mp3 websites or buy the CD. Frankly, is it really so hard to get a job and pay for the music? I mean, if you are getting something someone had put their time and energy into, is it really moral not to pay them for that time?

Cool, the Bible tells us to have 'working man hands', to have something to show for our labours (particularly so people can't accuse us of mooching off others).

Yeah I checked the site and they are authorized, they work and know the record labels that allow them to put music up for download. The bad thing though is that they don't have As I Lay Dying for download:(and the music there is not really high quality.........

That's the catch, they get you on the quality side (which doesnt bother some). At the end of the day, buying it ensures everything is above board. At the very least you can borrow a mates cd, play it to death then give it back.

Yeah i know.I would get a cd from friends but they don't like christian rock/metal becuase most of my friends are in the agnostic and atheist side.I have about 5 friends that are christians but they don't listen to christian metal they listen to secular rock metal and one listens to christian rap.Another thing that sucks about the site is when my membership expires i have to take all my songs out put them back which takes a long time, and we can't transfer the songs to a cd:(and you can't put them on a ipod, luckily for me i have a mp3 player thats compatible with the site.:)I also have to fill out surveys from the record labels, and other ads........:(.I just can't wait to get a job and earn my own money, but for now i'll stay with spiralfrog for a few months.

if it's just listening on your pc try http://last.fm it's a free online searchable radio program that enables you to build up a play lists of the type of music you like (including christian metal).
Also. Try www.christianrock.net (http://www.christianrock.net) for streaming christian rock tunes (a good way to find out what's out there you may like).

Is it against the law to put them on an mp3 player? If you don't know and can't find out then obey your conscience.

Negatorio. Ethics is the study on how we are to live, and i think 'thou shalt not steal' is part of an ethical framework, like topics such as justice and other morality issues. Furthermore, if theft was simply about guilt then what if i experience no guilt?

Then you wouldn't be guilty.

Are you for real? So if i do a sin often enough that i become numb to it, feeling no guilt, then it is ok?
Sorry mate, but you need to take a reality check. Stealing is ultimately wrong or not wrong, ones feelings on the matter have little bearing on the rightness or wrongness of it. When God said "Thou shalt not steal", He didnt mean: 'thou shalt not feel guilty'.

Spiral Frog does not have even such basic bands like Modest Mouse.
