I don't know what I did...sure I did something... But now real player is popping up usually in the middle of the afternoon trying to do an update...I think. What happens is real player tries to PLAY the update which of course doesn't work. It will show this: Files\Real\RealPlayer\rpbrowserrecordupdate.dll
Then say no such file can be found. Should I just turn off the auto updates to keep this from happening? I have to click off the error message and then click of real player and it sometimes messes up the computer. It goes really slow in clearing those off. I think what happened is Fire Fox had popped up with its tool bar saying this add on's could be added now...for some reason this latest update on firefox has not worked with a number of programs it had been working with before just fine. Anyway if I remember right it said real player would work now so I clicked to add it on. Every since then real player has been doing this and its a real pain! ugh!
thanks for any help.
God bless

Try that. If that doesn't work, you may have to turn it off in your msconfig. (assuming you are using XP.)
You may have to turn off the add on in firefox also. You can do that through tools/addon.

You could just uninstall it and use Windows Media Player. :D

I disabled the update thing for now and enabled real player back in firefox...wasn't stopping it from doing that when I disabled it on firefox anyway.
stupid thing...trying to 'play' an update...

It might be that your trial version of RP is out of date. RP is a pay only device now; the 'free' version gives you two weeks, then it locks out. When you try to play it, it automatically takes you to the update to get you to pay. However, the RP file on older Xp versions of Windows does not have the latest DLL to help it, so it goes all goofy. You might have the Rhapsody music engine installed also, this will complicate things since it will try to find an 'updated' version of Real Player.

mmmmm I have had the free version for years and it never locked up and sent me to the paid version? Must be a Texas thing... no I changed some settings on it but I can't remember what...then it started doing that... that's what happens when you let old people mess with things on the computer...:B

I suggest going into control panel and then Programs and Features and uninstalling it. Realplayer isn't worth having, IMO.
