The beginning of January I will be staying home to look after my daughter who will be 6 months old by then.

Anyone else around here done this/doing this? Advice for me?

Or anyone who has dealt with their wife going back to work with young kids and helping them through this time?

All advice appreciated.

Peace,
Joe

Hey Joe-hope that you are blessed and doing well
My stay-at-home dad experience came from my 1st daughter's birth. I believe that me being at home was a blessing for me because I was able to bond with her greatly. We are very close to this day and I couldn't be more pleased. I stayed at home because my wife could make more money than I could and I'd always said that the job market(at the time) was better for her than me. I'd say use this time to get closer with your child and know that later in life, that child will appreciate you greatly.

May God bless you

I don't have any advise for ya but i sure do envy you :P

The closest i had to that was when my wife was bedridden for a while. It was tough for us but i really bonded with the kids during that time. I thank God for the time now :)

Hi Joe,
Indeed it is an opportunity not welcomed by many men I know including myself...at first.
It is however a chance to know your daughter like no one else on this earth. You may well even get glimpses of yourself that you were not aware of.

The task is not well praised but the rewards are immense.
Do all that you can to make things easy for your wife and allow her what time she has to also share with your daughter.

It can take a while to get through the transition from a woman ran household to a man ran one, ( No separating laundry, vacuums work on floors not just carpets...etc) but its not a bad gig.
A serious hobby or home business can help when time allows.

Peace

Hey Baxpack,

Thanks for the words. My wife is kicking my but in the wages department right now too let alone benefits. How did a backwoods redneck like me end up married to a beautiful Finnish nurse?

I shaved my beard for a while :saint:

Peace,
Joe

Hey wheatbread,

I am sooo looking forward to the challenge. I have my own company doing residential contracting/carpentry. So I have no lack of things to do when I will have the time. I will see how much time that ends up being I guess. I could use a bunch just to heal from the abuse I have put my body through.

Anna's concerns about spending time with Kirsi are my first thought. Thanks for advice on that point.

Peace,
Joe
