There was a Roy Orbison concert tonight on PBS. My aunt and I were talking about my history of playing trumpet and how I liked to dabble with the harmonica. I told her of my dream to play guitar one day like Bob Dylan while using a harmonica holder. She went upstairs for a couple minutes, and returned with a wonderful gift. The Hohner Chromonika III!!! Apparently my great-uncle Cletus was in Germany during the second world war. He had a hankering for the instrument, and brought this piece back home with him. My aunt held onto it for a while not sure what to do with it until now. I am so excited right now that I can just run through the snow-filled streets! Now, this piece has 16 holes compared to the 10 I'm used to. It's also a C key with a slide bar that allows you to use a different key of which I have knowlege of at the moment. I kinda got away from playing because I kept dreaming of the guitar, but this sparked my interest again.

Nice! Then just having a great uncle Cletus sounds kind of neat I think...

I have heard of that kind before but never tried one. The slide lets you sharpen the notes as to play in any key without the need to switch for a different one. I think you get four octaves with the 16 hole one.

Would be cool not to have to carry around 5 or 6 different ones. Have fun!

That is too cool brother! Only song I ever learned on the harp was Piano Man, but I am a big John Popper/Blues Traveler fan and love that sound... and yes, having an Uncle Cletus does sound like a lot of fun.

And Joe, like your new avatar photo, looks like you lost some weight.;)

Yes I do.....I used to just play some of Dylan's solos and odds and ends. But I think I'm going to take this thing seriously because I just recently learned that the sound I'm searching for is creating by bending notes. I was always under the impression that there was a certain type of harp out there to create that blues-type sound. *sigh*
