View Full Version : Date setting

I would like to see an area in which we can freely discuss a possible date for the return of Christ. I know I sound crazy but why not? We tolerate different teachings from countless points of view on coutless topics. Many points of view aren’t anywhere near biblical and yet they aren’t censored in any way.

We hear people speak that we can lose our salvation and others that we can’t. Someone’s wrong. We hear people speak that all we have to do is have faith to be saved and others that it’s all up to God. Someone’s wrong. We hear people speak that noone can know the day of Christ’s return and yet others know that we can. Someone’s wrong. Why tolerate endless false teachings on endless subjects and yet not tolerate this subject even being brought up? All because of 2 verses in the bible that seems to say we can’t know? What if the powers over this forum are understanding those verses wrong? Quite frankly you have the power to make any rules you want. Yet the rule to not even bring up a possible return date seems out of place for a forum that allows so much false teachings to be discussed.

All I’m really proposing is a place on the forums where one can discuss these things from the bible. Not from some intuition or from a dream or whatever but from scripure. You have a place for everything else, why not this? Does the one making the rules have to believe we can know the time in order to change the rules? It seems like it so far? That’s fair I guess since the site belongs to you. Doesn’t make it right though. I’m not saying to change the rules for all areas of the forums, just maybe the End Times or maybe under a new section all together.

At least give it a consideration. This stuff is all over the internet and I think should be discussed and not censored.

Thx,
Mike

And being that scripture doesn't give a date, wouldn't nay discussion on a specific date be predicated on intuition, dream, or private interpretation?

For my money... I'd set a date in the mid 1980's. Everyone knows a generation is 40 years, and that Isreal became a nation in the 1940's. Also, nuclear war between Russia and the US is so obviously Gogg vs Mogog that its not even worth discussing. Yes. I'm absolutely positive that the last days are somewhere in the 1980's.

What level of freedom to date-set are you looking for? From the rules of ETC:

NOTE "Date setting" refers to a specific date, not the season.
Example:
"next week", "on on December 21, or specifically in 2012" is considered date setting.
"I believe it will happen soon", "during my lifetime" is not considered date setting.

You can discuss reasons why you think it might be "soon" or "within [your] lifetime" already. If you want to discuss why you think it will be one specific date (I'll use Dec 21, 2012 simply because that's listed above), what's the benefit in promoting that date over, say, Dec 22, 2012?

Since the Bible says no one knows, why speculate?

The rules on this topic have been set by the owner of the board and are not being changed.

This stuff is all over the internet and I think should be discussed and not censored

If you wish to discuss this topic, as you said it is all over the internet and can be discussed elsewhere.
