Well –25c (-13f) last night and the lake is frozen over, the huts will be out soon. Last year I caught my days limit of perch my licence allowed for the first time, 25 in a couple of hours. Looking to go a bit deeper for the trout and whitefish this year.
This will be the first year I have my own hut out and I am looking forward to having the cozy option on the cold and windy days.
What is your favourite kind of fishing?
Best fish story?
Peace,
Joe

I live in South Fla so I like deep seas fishing the best. I don't get a chance because it's expensive to charter a boat:B. This confines me to fresh water fishing for bass, brim and catfish.
The good thing about it is that it's in the 70s here ;)

Now that's one of the best things about ice fishing and a bonus of the cold... I don't need a boat ;)
Deep sea fishing would be awesome to try. I have yet to be at an ocean let alone fish in one. Have to look up what brim are...

I love to fish. When I was a boy, I would fish for minnows in a creek. It's one of the most relaxing hobbies I know of. I like to deep sea fish because you just never know what you might catch or how big it will be. I remember going fishing with dad and he caught a nice fish and I said it was bait. He didn't believe me till we caught something bigger with it. :pp
I like to catch catfish, bass, trout, and sunfish (brim, etc.) when freshwater fishing. It just depends on the mood and kind of water I am fishing.

Bass Fishing.
When I was like 9 I caught 3 fish and they all 3 together (HAHA) weighed 10 pounds and I got a clip in the newspaper. Now that I look back, the picture made me look a lot like a hick, sadly, I still look like one, but eh.
I haven't went fishing in a while, cause when I fish I am never serious, I do it cause I am bored and feel like just sitting out their and maybe listening to some good music (Country or Classical if its relax)

My favorite is to set out some lines for catfish and bass fish between running the lines ;)

Fastest way is Dynamite, funnest way is with a 12 guage lol. I hate people who think all people that talk with a southern accent and wear cammo automatically know everything about hunting and fishing (even though its true in our school, we are nicknamed the rednecks, and formed a gang called the Red-neck-eians). The gang died with about 30 members lol.

I haven't gone fishing in a long time but it is enjoyable especially out on the ocean. Our family has been fortunate to know several people with boats (sail and power). Salmon fishing (west coast) is my favourite. Pulling in a coho is a load of fun, and you can't beat fresh fish (especially grilled).
My best memory of fishing was out on my parents friend's sail boat when I was about 10 or so. They gave me a rod to keep me occupied while the rest sat and talked, suntanned or whatever. Well I hooked a small flounder in about 5 minutes (man, they can fight). A few minutes later I got a rock cod. Later in the day we moved to a new spot where a guy on another boat said that there's nothing here. I promptly hooked a good size ling cod, and then another.
Oddest things I have caught were a sea cucumber and a couple starfish. Biggest thing was a 3 foot dogfish.

Growing up, many of my friends used to love fishing. I'd go out with them, watch them get caught, but in all that time I've never got so much as a bite.
Best fishing story...
There's a friend of mine who we joke about having a "touched life". The kind of person who always seems to naturally fall into good fortune. Well, his brother goes to Bermuda with some friends. They all decide to try their hand at fishing. The first time this guy puts a lure in the water in his life and he ends up catching the world's largest Nassau Grouper... almost doubling the previous record.

I live near the coast so most of my fishing is in the local bays.
Although I still bass fish as often as I can.
As a kid my parents had a bay boat and on good days we could
go offshore. Usually around 30 miles or so and fish for snapper
kingfish, ling, tripletail, black tip shark, gulf trout...etc.
Toughest fight I've had were catching a 30lb. sting ray.
Another time I got a 60lb. ray up to the boat. Sucker was the
size of a sheet of plywood. My dad looked at it and said
"Well I don't think it will fit in the boat much less the ice box...
we're gonna have to cut the line"
We got a picture and off it went.
One summer while I was going to college I deck handed on a small
snapper boat. One of the best jobs I've had.
Most of the fish I catch now are flounder, speckled trout and redfish.
Redfish are the best fighters, speckled trout are fun when they're
schooling, and flounder is mighty good eating.
I feel a fishin trip commin on...gotta go!
