Instead of Yes, No, or Looking into christianity, could we maybe make it where we can type our religion in it so people can know what Religion Affiliation you are? Just a thought.

In my understanding, it's because we're a Christian message board. Our aim here is to serve Christ, and to do that, we don't identify ourselves as being from various religions. We choose "yes, I am a Christian" if we are Christian, and those who are seeking or simply aren't Christian choose one of the other options. It's so we know who we are addressing, and also so people who want to come to Christ know who to speak with. With the thousands of doctrinal differences out there, it'd also get mighty complicated for everyone to start listing religions. All we want and need to know in that simple little profile bit is if someone is a Christian, is not a Christian, and if they're seeking Christ. The DETAILS of that can always come in a thread. :)

We're a Protestant Christian message board more than anything. We aren't a general theology forum.

I think the current system works really well.... I've never seen a problem with it. I've seen people change back and forth between our three options, and that's about it.

Just my 0.02!

Well, I know another christian forum that does it, and it seems to work good, but eh, I guess it might not be a good idea to the mods or whoever runs it, but eh, just figured I might give a suggestion.

It's not about your religion or mine but whether or not we are Christians. That is, we believe that we are saved because Jesus died for our sins and He is the way, the truth and the life.

I think it's a good suggestion. By stating what denomination we're affiliated with, it allows others to have an idea at a glance of where we are coming from in our views/opinions/beliefs. I doubt if anyone would take it as proselytizing.

My two shekels worth. :)

Again, denomination has nothing to do with it....it is whether we trust Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior.
