My speakers will pick up sound from my computer, but not on You Tube or videos I want to listen to like that?

When I had just old head phones plugged in I had sound, but when I plug in the speakers, no sound? I have sound on a video on my computer, but nothing from the internet?

The pretty blue light is on. They are plugged in with a USB and the other little green bob thingy and the my computer tells me they are working, and they are if the sound is in my computer, just not anything thus far from the internet.

Why would the old head phones work and not the speakers?

... Computer sound cards are famous for this type of malfunctioning. In most cases a simple restart or reboot will fix the problem since it is usually software related. If the problems occurs often you will need to give me a little bit of input. If the sound is integrated into the motherboard the problem is easily corrected in most cases by just flashing the BIOS. If you have a separate sound card plugged into the system it is even easier to take care of. That is done under the Hardware Manager after you have opened the case and identified the card and have downloaded the latest driver for it.
... Shout if you need me.

Thanks Bill, I tell ya, my husband can fix anything in the house but the computer, unfortunately.

I had just been using an old set of those cheap head phones like used to come with the ancient devices called walk mans. Tells ya how old the head phones are, but they worked plugged in to the green hole on the front of my computer. And then my mother had some speakers she was not using so I plugged them in, no sound, but I clicked here and there and turned the volume up all the way, and, viola, sound. :pp

So hopefully it will continue to work.

I agree with th1Bill, usually a simple restart will do. In alot of cases, the sound card is simply tryng to figure out whether you are using 2.0, 2.1 or surround sound. On many sound cards, the card's mic jack will double as a second input for another set of speakers, surround sound for example. When you unplug something, it detects a change and tries to figure out what is different. Time or a reboot will usually help it to reconfigure the hardware.

... The first and most important thing to know about computers is that the only idiot around one is the one that never asks anything. I have been messing around with computers since just after the first one with 64K of memory. That computer took up 2000 square foot of space and literally filled the room to the ceiling. There was no keyboard and it was made to work with punch cards.
... In spite of my longevity in this game, every day I ask someone else for a solution to this or to that problem. Likewise they ask me when they hit a spot they cannot figure because they know I work these problems, all night long, in my sleep and often wake up at 3 or 4 with the answer. My wife is certain that when I'm asleep that all sanity leaves the room. I like this stuff so much now because I am no longer physically able to do the things I loved bur this way my head does not have time for a pity party and that is great.
... By the way, since I am one hundred per cent combat disabled I no longer charge anything for any of my services and the one I am best at is to restore damaged photos. If a photo is to light I will darken it and enrich the color. If it is to dark, most of the time I can lighten it and make a decent picture of it. If it has been torn, burned, been in a flood or if portions of it are just missing I can usually repair them. I have done many four and five hundred dollar jobs for free. If it is black and white I can colorize it for you. If you'd care to see some of my work go to photorepaired.com and in one of the "Easy Site Navigation" Drop Menus click on My favorite Project.
... So if you or your young gentleman have a question, please, ask it. If I don't know the answer BDH or someone else is likely to know. If not, one of us will find it for you in a day or two.

Thanks guys.

I tried to stick my head phones in the microphone hole but no deal on that. What is happening now is if I stick the headphones in the speaker hole they work, or if I stick the green speaker thing in the speaker hole they work, I just cant change them mid stream. Like if I take one out and put the other in, I have to start the video over, which is ok, I am happy to have them both working without having to restart, I just leave the USB thing plugged in and maybe that way my computer is happy.

I have tried to repair photos and have done a little, but not a lot. I did do them for the same price as you though Bill.
