So I heard this story in a sermon……it was so catching that I wanted to share this…….
A rich man was collecting original paintings. His only son was called for military duties. On the battle field this young man got killed…….
A couple of months later, a young man entered the doorstep of this rich man, with a sketch he drew…..As the rich man opened the door, the young man approached and said: “Sir, you may not know me, but I knew your son……..I am not an artist, but he told me that you were collecting paintings……..so you see sir, this sketch is about two men on the battle field with bullets flying all over………one of the soldiers in this sketch is carrying a wounded soldier…….whom was killed during his brave act, of helping a soldier in need……..So, you see sir, that wounded soldier were me, and the one who carried me, was your son…….”
The rich man thanked the soldier, and made a special place in his house to hang this sketch to be reminded of his son……..A couple of years past, and this rich man died, leaving no heir……..
An auction was called for the goods to be sold, as these paintings he owned was worth millions of dollars…….. People from all over the world gathered, to have an opportunity to lay there hands on these special paintings……..
The auctioneer came forward, picked up a simple drawing and opened the auction with the a sketch of two soldiers in battlefield……..As the people saw this sketch they started complaining, and said, “bring out the valuable and real stuff….” But the auctioneer shared with the people, that the rich man’s testament read, that the auction will start with this specific sketch…………..
So the bid began……….”do I have $50” the auctioneer said………..But people were shouting and complaining, “put down that simple sketch and let us start with the more valuable ones”……..but the auctioneer kept on bidding on the sketch……..At last a man that was standing at the back of the crowd came forward, and said to the auctioneer……..”Sir, I have been working for this family for several years now…….this son in that picture, I knew as if he were my own, So you see sir, I don’t have 50$ but only 30$ and if the people here won’t mind, I would like to buy this sketch as it has valuable meaning to me…….” The crowed got angry and said “let him have it for his 30$, we don’t want that”……So the auctioneer began…… “ I have 30$, going once, I have 30$ going twice……..I have 30” as he hammered on the table, and said “sold”. The auctioneer closed his books and started packing up…….The crowd got anxious and screamed, so why are you are not auctioning the rest of the paintings”. The auctioneer looked at the crowd and said……… “The testament reads……..He who takes the son, takes it all!”:pp
