Not sure if this is the right place for this post.... just a bit of background. I was raised Catholic, I'm 29 years old about 5 years ago my husband and I started attending a nondenom church and since then have finally come into a relationship with Christ.
Anyways I had a very awesome experience last week in church. Our pastor had just finished his sermon and was basically giving his closing where he invites you to come up to the steps at the front of the church.
I was pretty focused on listening to what he had to say when all of a sudden I saw in my mind an image of Christ coming up kind of from the side and behind me and standing next to me putting his hand on the back of my left shoulder. It was as if it was in black and white and I couldn't really see his face just more that he had a long robe, a tad longer hair but I just new it was him.
It was really out of nowhere and didn't last but a moment but I can't even explain the comfort I felt.
Anyways praise God and thankyou : )

Thanks for sharing this-- a blessing you will always remember. I understand that comfort! Something like this happened to me thirty years ago when I was running in a race through a tunnel on a city bike and running trail. I was coming in about ninth among a small number of racers..towards the finish line but there was this tunnel which we had to go through. It was lighted by the exit at the end. About in the middle of the tunnel I looked to my left and also (in my mind's eye) saw Jesus who was running with me and wearing a white robe but dark sandals. No other runners were in the tunnel but me. He pointed to his sandals...which I now think meant that they were sandals of peace. And they were.
Before that time I had been going through some difficulties and trials and couldn't see the light at the end of the tunnel. But this helped strengthen my faith that Jesus was with me and that we would reach the end of the tunnel together. We did..
I thank God to this day.

This is a great thread! Thank you for sharing, techie4u.
When I was a very young Christian, one day I was alone at home, doing some mundane chores, and started thinking about how far I'd come. I thought about all the horrible things I had done, and got insecure about being forgiven.
So I prayed "how God, can it be, that you really forgave everything bad about me?" Immediately, in my mind, I saw Jesus from the side, with a blackboard full of chalky "graffiti" type stuff, and Jesus had an eraser in his hand. I knew right away that those marks all over the board were my sins. With a swipe across the blackboard, there was no chalk marks left. It was as clean as if it was brand new. I said "Wow, thank you Lord!"
I love remembering that day.

I had somewhat of a similar experience when I was a very small child. I looked outside and saw Jesus, carrying His Cross, as He walked right by my house.

When I was just born-again, I was driving down the road thinking about Jesus....always thinking about Jesus...anyways, I looked up and almost had to stop my van. Right in the front of me, in the sky, was one cloud that truly, had a silver outline all around it, like God had took a brush and painted it...Oh, I cried and thanked the Lord for confirming HIS presence and existence to me...I had never seen anything like it in my entire 50 yrs. of life and I have never, and I look often, seen anything like it since! HE does reveal HIMSELF to us, if we pay attention!!! Glory to God.:pp:pp:pp:pp

I had a similar experience.......
When I had to undergo an exam for my stomach, they sedated my throat and then put a tube into my stomach to see what was in there, and I disliked it a lot..... so I closed my eyes, and just imagined I was walking with Jesus on the beach....... I kept on repeating: "I'm not here, I am walking with Jesus on the beach....... and I could really see us walking there...... suddenly I felt someone take my hand and I felt so safe and could stay calm even when they took biopts out of my esophagus....... after the exam I asked my husband if he took my hand but it wasn't him........ :)
I have more experiences like this, like when I had an EEG and Jesus held my feet.......
so I am very blessed by these things......
Love you,
Mieke

Thanks for sharing your wonderful experience with us, techie4u.
Years ago, when we first came to Paraguay (and things were REALLY tough for us then), I was sitting next to my husband on a park bench in the town park of Concepcion (a town in rural Paraguay). I was just so down - then, all of a sudden I saw Jesus in a white robe walking towards me with outstretched arms. He looked me straight in the eye, took both my hands in His, and we started twirling around and around, right there in the park. My eyes were open throughout this vision. The most incredible peace washed over me as I realised that Jesus was right there with me (us). I didn't really see His Face, but I will always remember His love-filled and laughing eyes.
Of course we know God is ever-present, but I guess He blesses us with visions like these at desperate times to encourage and remind us.
God bless.

This touched me as when I saw Jesus it was in a time of crisis. He hugged me and told me I was fogiven by Him, so who was I to not forgive myself?
Wow, just phenomenal!

Wow. I have never had an experience like that. I have had some miraculous events happen and definitely felt His presence but never anything visual. I think that would be so awesome.

The black and white bit is interesting. When you dream, is it also in black and white?

This is a spectacular thread thanks to all for sharing!! lol I was almost getting jealous thinking wow I have never had an encounter like these but then I remebered.... One day after I accepted christ into my life I was sitting on the couch looking out the window at all the clouds in the sky trying to make out animals n such to amuse myself I dont think I could make out many animals so I prayed n asked God if he would help me out...lol silly I know but he did! First I saw a shape of a teddy bear which just delighted me so that God would even answer my prayer but the second oh my! It was a face and I mean it felt as if Jesus him self was staring at me!! It was so powerful and wonderful at the same time such a wonderful day that was! Something great to remeber thanks for this thread! :D

What a great suprise today. I had posted this a little while ago but have been busy and not checked back for awhile. But today I look and see all of these threads and great responses : )
Someone asked if I dream in black and white. No I don't think I ever have.
Also a lot of people seem to experience something like this when they are in a time of crisis. I'm really not so much in a time of a "wordly" crisis as much as I am finally really wanting to turn it all over to Christ but am struggling with this. I think maybe that is why I had the vision??

I have had several experiences and none were when I was struggling, they were completely out of the blue.
I think we hear more about the ones where people were struggling because of the great impact it has if you are having a really hard time then suddenly Jesus walks in and changes your life.

I was going through a bad place in my life and had backslidden. I was running from God, from what i knew was right. Luckily, i had a praying mother and father that was not about to let me drift too far. During this bad place i could always feel the conviction over me and knew where i needed to be but kept running.
On night i had a dream. I dreamt i was lost in the dark, in the woods with some friends. We didn't know where to go or what was going on. My friends (people i didn't even know), ran a different direction then me but i knew somehow they were going the wrong way. I kept running towards somewhere but knew i was going the right way. I finanly reached a place that looked liked a huge church. It was circle, extrememly tall and felt safe. I wondered to the front door, i opened it and the light was so bright and the feeling was incredible. An ordinary looking man was standing there to greet me. He took my hand and said, " hello Devon, please come in.". I felt so welcomed. He lead me down a large hallway into a large room.with shelves upon shelves of files with peoples names on them. He handed me a file with my name on it and walked me to another room that was the largest sanctuary i could ever imagine. Inside there were lines of people from the top of the sanctuary to the bottom, rows upon rows, everywhere you looked. In middle of all these people, at the very bottom I could barely make out a man sitting in a throne. When it was finanly my turn to walk up to him, I seen it was Jesus Christ. He looked like an ordinary man too. However, his face was so perfect and radiant. There was such peace. I reached out to hand him my file and he said, "Hello Devon, I have been expecting you." I started to weep and fell at his feet. At that point I woke up! It was awesome. I knew God was trying to shake me. I wound up at church that next sunday, quit doing street drugs and gave my heart back to God!

Since nobody knows what Jesus looks like, it's difficult to say what kind of vision you had, but I wouldn't take too much emphasis on his appearance. What I do know with absolute certainty is that he does not look like those paintings with long, brown hair and a beard. This was DaVinci's image of Christ and I'm very uncomfortable with his painting of the last supper.

Interesting.
Jesus does comfort us, surely the popular saying is true: Jesus is sweet.
God is love.

Sorry If I bump this, but I thought I'd just add a little of my own experience.
I haven't lived my life as a devoted Christian, but I'm very selfless and my intent is usually good. I have been troubled with something for quite a while and I usually break down and cry. I was confessing how I messed up and would do anything for a second chance, and I saw Jesus with my eyes closed. I've seen many things like numbers, etc with my eyes closed but I felt better right and stopped crying after I saw him, like as If he raised his healing hand.
I think It's amazing really, he looked a lot like the image below except he was looking down smiling.

That's not actually what Jesus looks like, but we'll all know one day. I find the DaVinci depiction offensive to us Christians, but I find Michelangelo's painting even more offensive than the last supper painting. A naked man with white hair and a beard? I can't imagine what he was thinking, but I can imagine that I'm not the only Christian who is deeply offended by his painting on the ceiling of the sistine chapel.
